I bought a new Droid 4, and about a
month later it completely stopped working. It was fine in the
morning, then an hour later it was completely dead. Took it to the
Verizon store and after they tried everything to revive it it was
determined that it needs to be replaced.
I was told that Verizon would send me a
replacement vie overnight Fedex, and that I have to send the
defective phone back within five days.
My question is, why couldn't the phone
simply be replaced at the store? I've been going to job interviews
and have used the mobile phone number on applications as a primary
contact. Although the overnight service is nice, I'm still going to
be without phone service for at least 32 hours and might miss some
very important calls. It would have been much more convenient to get
a replacement at the store and turning in the defective device there
as well instead of now having to play with mail service back and
forth.

Thanks mdram. Short answer, but right to the point. I guess I should have read the contract and all the fine print. Will do that now.

it's also because they will replace it with a "like new" refurbished phone. they don't keep those on hand at stores.

Great, so I paid almost $300 dollars for a brand new phone that I took very good care of and kept it in two cases, the phone turned out to be defective after a month of gentle use, and now it will be replaced one that was broken and supposedly fixed. If this is what I wanted I could have bought a refurbished phone outright for less then half of what I originally paid.
I'm an idiot. Should have stuck with my $30.00 Tracfone that I had for over five years, which I never experienced any problems with.
I have a feeling that this whole smart phone idea is going to turn into one of the dumbest decisions that I have ever made.

i wouldn't worry about it. you won't be able to tell that it's not new. i've got refurbs (i even buy them sometimes from verizon) before and have never been able to tell that they aren't brand new. if it works properly and looks brand new, then isn't it better than your other one?
