On power up, stuck in the Droid eye

Has anyone else had this problem?  After I powered my Droid 2 phone this morning, the phone was stuck in the Droid "eye" screen.  The power button does not seem to work.  Not sure if this is significant but I installed the Mobile Recovery App yesterday.  I have not updated (at least knowingly) the device's firmware.  Phone is only a few days old.  A restart after removing and reinstalling the battery corrected the problem. System version is Version.2.3.20.A955.Verizon.en.US.  Android version is 2.2. Baseband version is BP_C_01.09.07P.  Kernal version is 2.6.32.9-g462500f dbretzm1@il93lnxdroid22 #1, Build number is VZW, ERI Version is 5, and PRL Version is 52189

I've heard of this problem before, but haven't had it myself. Battery pull has been the effective correction process. Unless you get it repeatedly, you should be fine.

Upon review, I am showing that your device software is up to date at the time, so it would not of been an update causing the issue. If you run into this issue again and the battery pull does not resolve the issue, you can do a factory reset through the following steps:

  • Press and hold the "X" key
  • Reset Screen will appear
  • You will find an option to Wipe Device or Restore to Factory Settings
  • You will come to screen asking are you sure you would like to complete this process, select Yes
  • Once the process is complete, you will reactivate the device by dialing *228 and selecting Option 1

I've had the same problem twice, and always had to re-insert the battery.  A nuisance, and I hope to get resolution at a workshop.
