OK, I got the text that the update was available, I got the email saying confgradulations that my phone was updated (3 weeks ago). No update, I'm still at 2.1. I called Verizon over a week ago and they claimed the texts and emails can go out without you actually receiving the update. He had me check for pending updates (none) and also said they can't force an update and to just wait.
That was over a week ago, still waiting. When does the 2.2 roll-out end and when should I call up again to see what Verizon can do? I really don't want to do a manually roll-out and would prefer the OTA as Verizon planned it.

Try typing this in the phone:
Press phone -> on the number pad type in *#*#checkin#*#* and hit call. That will reinitialize you with the servers to see if you are around. When you are, you should get an update.
Other things to do to help, make sure you have good network range, or are on a Wifi. That will give you the best chances of getting the update.

after some of the aggravation, I would almost want to tell you leave the phone at 2.1! but try going into a store and see if they can help, or do a search for the "update.zip and manually update your phone, make sure everything is backed up

I received the text on 9-15-2010 saying I was updated when I wasn't, but was told the text arrives weeks prior to the update. You will get it any day now I am sure. I was thinking the same as you but it will arrive. I got my update last night Oct. 4th at 11pm. It can take several weeks after receiving the text I was told. It took about 15 m in to update and all went very smoothly. I think 2.2 is great. I love the new texting platform and the adobe flash, which you install for free in the app dept. After you update to 2.2. I am not sure what all the complaining is about. Everything is the same as with 2.1 but better. More features such as password for the key board, better cam etc. No probs with email, either with outlook or my other accts. I did not do a factory reset and nothing was lost. I think you will enjoy when you receive it, just be patient. Good luck!!
