New smart phone user questions about the Droid X shipping by 8/3

I've never owned a smart phone before and have always wanted a Blackberry, but, I broke down an ordered the Droid X after seeing my brother- in-law constantly playing with his Motorola Droid!  Mine is supposed to be in the shipment that ships out by 8/3 so I have several questions before it gets here...hopefully someone can help me out! :smileyhappy:

First, after reading all of these posts about the X and the problems folks are having with the device, I'm worried that this is not the phone for me!  I put a lot of research into the X before purchasing it and it wasn't until I got here that I learned about all of these issues.  I did know about the Smart Options causing the phone ringer to stay on vibrate when turned on its face and how to solve that problem, so, I just wont use Smart Options!

Next, can I get my Comcast email on my phone?  If so, is it easy to set up?  What's the difference between my Comcast address and a GMail address?

Lastly, is MotoBlur easy to use?

Like I said earlier, I am totally new to this, but, I am the type of person who reads every bit of literature that comes with new 'toys' and plays with them for hours until I figure things out, but, one thing I can't do is set up an email account on my computer without some sort of technical support...go figure!

Thanks in advance for any and all help with my questions!

Oh and do you think most of the bugs people are seeing will be taken care of in this shipment of phones?

You need to check with Comcast customer service or check out their website for the settings so you can set up email. I have charter for my email, and it is useless to set my Droid up for email because charter does not allow emails to be sent out if the email is sent out from another network. Once you have the settings, just follow the directions in the user guide and you should be able to set it up.

The difference between gmail and comcast..... just a different provider... and you have to have a gmail account to set up the phone.... easy to sign up if you have not already done it.

the issues that you read on the board are valid issues to those people, but there are a LOT more people that do NOT have any problems with their Droid X. I have not had one issue reported here other than the navigation program sometimes will go to the background while I am using it.

The UI is not Motorblur, but a a lightweight UI.... if you can point with your finger, if you can put your finger on glass and drag it across the glass, you can use the UI. Nothing to worry about there.
