I have a new Droid2 (side note... I replaced a damaged Droid2 - recommend getting a cover for your Droid... I dropped my sans cover... and the glass now has a big spider web crack in it)
What I want to know is there a way to transfer my texts from my old phone to my new phone?
Thank you.

Unfortunately at this time there is no way to transfer texts from one device to another. There may be a text application that allows this in the market. But keep in mind all applications are from third party users and are download at your own risk.

thanks... but how do I know if the old phone texts are "sms" texts? Texts from the texting function that comes with the Droid2 (no special app). And if there is an app.. I no longer have service on the old phone... already turned on the new one.
I think I may be out of luck

If you have access to wifi, you can put the old phone in airplane mode and turn on wifi and connect to a network. As long as you still have your google account loaded in that phone, you can get to the market. Just make sure you have a sd card in old phone and find the application in the market.

I am able to get the wifi going on the old phone but when I go to click on the Market app... I keep getting "A network error has occurred. Retry, cancel and return to previous screen". Any ideas?
thanks again.

I can get on with my replacement phone... was able to get to market and then download the SMS backup app... so not sure that is the problem... it may have to do with fact that I am trying to do this on my old phone which has been deactivated (of course I wish I had done this before I did that and activated the new phone)...
On the old phone I am able to connect to Wifi but when I go to the market I keep getting the error. May just call it a night and retry tomorrow... it could be that I just am going to lose all my saved texts.
thanks for trying to hep

You have the gmail account loaded on the old phone?
All is not lost. Try this route. I can't remember but does the Droid 2 on an on-board file explorer? If you have Astro or Estrongs file explorer on the new phone, make a backup of SMS Backup to the SD card. Put the sd card in the old phone , turn on the ability for third-party apps. Install the apk you saved from the other phone. Run the backup. Swap the card to the other phone properly. Restore on the new phone.
Good luck.
