Installed upgrade; Phone worthless HELP!

Seeing that an upgrade was available,  I chose to install it and went through the process normally. Now, the phone is worthless.

While it starts OK, none of the buttons at the bottom work anymore and while I can get to something like "settings" or an app on the desktop, once I do, tapping the screen to advance does not work.

Holding the button on the top to power down does not work. Menu button does not work. And the phone will, after a few minutes, go to black with the exception of the blue line at the top with the time, connection status and battery indicator.

Nothing else works.

Is there some way to override this nonsense and wipe everything out and return to factory defaults?

Pull the battery to take it down.

After reinstalling the battery

Hold down the Home key and power button. When the Red M shows up, release the power button and hold the home key until you the triangle on the screen.

Press both up/down volume buttons together to get a selection screen. Use the up/down arrows to highlight 'Factory Reset' and press the power button to select.

Note: This will wipe out all personal data internally and you will have to activate the phone again. It will not wipe out the contents of the SD card.

Sounds like a visit to a Verizon corporate store is in your near/immediate future.

Sounds like a Verizon tech doing a hard reset at store....  Save yourself a trip and hard reset the device by going to Setting / Privacy / Factory Data Restore...  This is wipe all personal data and you will have a fresh copy of the new update installed and this usually works.

That's true Wildman but the OP said:

My phone started OK also right after the upgraded, but would then reboot every few minutes. I did a factory reset and the reboots stopped.

i really don't think the wipe did anything prior to the upgrade.

neither my son or i did the wipe before gb, mine was an ez install, it required replacement of his phone, which came back with gb installed & he's had no issues since getting the replacement phone.

bottom line, some phones were affected/some weren't, didn't matter what apps were onboard.

going to the verizon store will be worthless.

if they don't sell you something, they make nothing, so they really don't care if your issue is resolved.

This is the correct way to hard reset if device wont boot clean...  Follow this and you should be good.
