Early September I switched from the BlackBerry Storm to the DROID X, so I understand how to use a smartphone. I am kind of disappointed with the lack of features the DROID X has in comparison to the the BB Storm, which I was quite surprised with.
First, on my BB - I LOVE the way it let's you customize EVERYTHING for your contacts, phone calls/texts/e-mails. It really caught me off gaurd when I found the X does not have those types of features. Yes, I know I can change the ringtone for each contact (and by downloaded Ringo Lite, I found I can change texts) however, to have 4 e-mail address come to the phone and only be able to have 1 universal ringtone is pretty unacceptable in my eyes. On my X, I have 1 personal and 3 different business e-mail accounts that come to my phone. I want to be able to differentiate what account is getting messages, for example, I don't want to have to look at my phone EVERY time I get an e-mail considering I get ALOT of stuff through my personal. I want to be able to tell when I am getting a business e-mail and what account it is coming through. Yes, I could delete my personal e-mail but where's the fun in that?
Second, I am having a heck of a time with my 3G mobile hotspot. I have an SSID and have everything set-up the way it should be, but I am not connecting. My computer will recognize the DROID X and I entered in my code then the computer says its connected with however many bars, but I am not able to get on the Interenet. Also when I have the screen pulled up on my X, there seems to be an area that should show "connected devices" but nothing ever shows up. I don't know if there should be anything there, but it looks like it.
So after my second month of paying the $20 hotspot fee, I'm not sure this DROID X is all is hyped up to be. It will do, but I'm not impressed.
I'd take the phone in and have it looked at by the local Verizon tech (if there's one in the area). It's a piece of cake to connect to wifi on my phone. I've not tried the mobile hotspot feature (yet).
As to your other issues, geez, I can hardly keep up with 4 or 5 different tones on my ENTIRE phone. I can't imagine 4 tones for 4 personal email address. And I'm a pretty technically evolved guy in the technical end of show business. Who couldn't have any less use for anything Blackberry if I tried.

lol it would be nice to have a different jingle for every thing one the phone but really pushing it saying this is a lacking point of the droidx i had a storm and there is just no comparison ....also bb is a business-centric phone driod x is simply a great smart phone all around they still make bb's if you really need the business side of things to be the dominate feature. ...but be honest would you ever go back to your storm?

I have to agree with the OP on this. I'm away from my desk a lot at work, so if my work e-mail tone sounds, I know to check it, and when my personal e-mail tone sounds, I can ignore it and not even touch the Storm. But, this is certainly not a deal-breaker for my getting the Droid X.
