I had bought the android 4 month ago from verizon store in New-Jersey, I had pay total is $400 when I bought it and  the seller tell me that they will send to me the $100 discount later, but now I didn't receive anything from verizon wireless.  Last week I had call them and ask them the $100 discount so they give me this phone number 18778998980  and they say "I can call that number if  I didn't receive the $100"  . I just call that number but they talking about debit card or something like that but I don't have any debit or credit card. Also my English no good that didn't understand all what they say. Can  someone help me , how can I get $100 discount.

dposey, call customer service and ask that they call the rebate center to validate the rebate on your behalf (assuming you bought from VzW itself, not a third party, they can do this).

Unfortunately, you have to mail in the receipt and UPC from the phone box to get the $100 mail-in rebate.  And they will send you a $100 VISA debit card - which is as good as cash as you can take it into a bank and get cash with it.

NOTE TO VERIZON:  Consumers are aware of the mail-in rebate scam.  The technology is there to validate purchases and issue the rebate at the register.  Mail-in rebates just show that you don't care about the consumer.

There is nothing wrong with mail-in rebates. It's a common business tool. Better yet, buy your phone on-line and get an immediate price reduction.

It is a way for companys to make money. Some people forget to mail them in, a lot of people never finish using what is on the card. Leaving a few cents on the card millions of time can really add up for a company.

ugh, I hate those things with a passion.

More often than not it requires a real test of perseverance to see it through.

Not to mention any names or anything, but their initials are BEST BUY. :smileywink:

Fortunately, I just re-upped for 2 years with Verizon and chose 2 Droids for me and the son, and an LG Accolade for the wife.

I had [2] $100 rebates and [1] $50 rebate promised by V.

To my amazement, after mailing in all the required info, I was notified by email within one WEEK that they received my materials and that everything was in order.  Two weeks later they ALL arrived in the form of prepaid debit cards.

Even more amazing, those debit cards came with an option to turn them into cash and have the funds direct deposited into any account of my choosing. I was blown away by that... never expected it.

Kudos to Verizon for how they handled this, and for how fast it was.

Unfortunately I know a little about the mail in rebate Industry ( Yes it is an industry )

I do not know if you can call the mail in rebates a scam or not, but it is certainly a game.  A company like Verizon hires one of the various processing firms to handle a mail in rebate program ( compare the address on different products ) The companies that handle these mail in rebates guarantee a company like Version a certain number of rejections.  ( The most common is to claim poor handwriting ) The people who process these claims are required to go down a list to see if they can use any silly little thing to deny the claim.

Even knowing this, I still play the game because I know you can save some money.  The key is to type your return ( yep get an old type writer a peck out the return form if you have to)  Then Make 100% sure you provide them with all the require materials ( Usually a copy of the receipt and original UCP label from the box ).  Make a photo copy of ALL materials.  Next go to the post office and send it return receipt so that you can verify that it was delivered.  ( For a $100.00 bebate it is worth the extra few dollars ) The #2 reason to reject a refund is to claim that they never received it. (YES THEY WILL LIE ABOUT IT TO MEET THEIR QUOTA )   The agents are informed that when they see a claim with return receipt and typed they are not to reject it even for a minor issue because they assume that anyone that has gone to that much trouble will keep good records and a photo copy of everything that they send in....

I have mailed in many and have never had one denyed......  But you have to learn to play by the rules.....

P.S. The cards that Version sends you can be transferred to your checking account.  I did this with mine so that I would get all of my $100.00 and not have some change left on the card....  It took about 10 minutes on-line to do it....

I bought two new phones from the local Verizon store on 2/17/11.

I sent in all the paperwork a week later, after making sure the phones worked OK. I've done this before, so I double checked the paperwork, and made photocopies of everything. I included the original UPC codes, the rebate forms, copies of the sales contracts, etc., and sent everything for one phone in one envelope, and everything for the other phone in the other envelope.

A couple of weeks later, I got 2 postcards saying they'd been rejected - the cause was 'Invalid Receipt'.

I took all the paperwork to the local Verizon store. They printed out a duplicate of the receipt (exactly the same as what I'd already sent in), and told me to resubmit it. I did.

A couple of weeks later, I got 2 more identical postcards, with the same rejection cause.

I resubmitted all the paperwork a 3rd time, with a cover sheet in each envelope, explaining what I had done, what I was sending in, etc. I even pointed out to them that if they had a problem with having one receipt for two phones, that it would be reasonable for them to pay for AT LEAST ONE of the rebates, even if they thought the second one was fishy.

I never heard anything back, and have not received either rebate. I think the Verizon mail-in rebate SCAM is basically a fraud. My local Verizon store says they can't help.

I've been a Verizon customer for 7 years, but I don't think I'll be renewing this time. Since all the decent Verizon phone require 2 year contracts and rebates to get the price down to realistic levels, it's either pay cash for a crap phone, or get screwed on the rebate...
