How the Droid X saved my brother-in-laws life.

Three days ago, my brother and i were riding our motorcycles in the country. MY brother was ahead of me we were both driving about 35mph and a deer shot out in front of him. He hit he deer head on at full speed. He was thrown from his bike and landed directly in the road in front of me as did the deer that was thrown in the air. I crashed trying to avoid hitting them both. My brother-in-law sustained sever injuries including a collapsed lung, 7 broken ribs, a broken clavicle and scapula as well as a lacerated liver.

When i hit the road, i was bounced around and slid on the asphalt for about 15 yards. I am pretty beat up and scrapped up but did not break anything. When i came to a stop my first thought was of my brother as i had witnessed what happened to him and knew he would be in critical condition. I was praying that my Droid X which i had in the verizon hardshell case/holster would be usable as the road we were on was not traveled much and it could be a while before anyone came along.

To my amazement, the phone was in perfect condition, no cracked screen, nothing wrong with it because of the case i had it in. I was able to get it out and laying in the middle of the road call out for help. Due to my brother injuries, i believe that my phone surviving such a hard impact and still functioning saved my brothers life. He is still in the ICU and will be for the next week but i know had my phone not survived the crash, things could be very different. THANK YOU Motorola for a well built phone and THANK YOU VERIZON for a well built case.

Amen!

Happy to hear that all has turned out well.

So much better than reading some one cry about the low ringtone volume again.

Best wishes,

Something is wrong with your story mate. He tossed a deer on his bike? He hit it full speed which was only 35 mph? He broke all of that, but landed in front of you and yet you managed to not run him over nor sustain heavy injuries yourself after apparently swerving to miss them both? He was first your brother and now he is your brother in law? You only thought of your phone, didn't he have one too? You bounced but such an impact spared your Droid? Really?

Try to make up a more believable story next time.

Im glad he is going to recover. Proper engineering seems was secondary to the enormous amout of luck" minus the deer" your brother has.

Yeah sounds hard to believe he did so much damage to me too, hope he recovers well.  I hit a deer on my bike doing 60 a month ago, I only shattered my clavicle and ripped flesh off.

I believe the story.  When the poster stated the brother (in-law) hit the deer full speed he meant at the 35 mph he was traveling - unable to hit the brakes prior to the deer jumping in front of him.  The poster avoided the crash in front of him by dumping the bike, which stops you in a hurry.  He was concerned about his phone to be able to call for help as quickly as possible.  Why would someone (who is using his full  name as his screen name) make up a story like this to cheerlead for the Droid?

I was in a deer v. Harley accident 7 weeks ago myself with my husband (both on the same bike).  We were able to dump the bike in time to avoid the deer that appeared out of nowhere after being blinded by an oncoming car briefly while traveling a state road in the country at 55mph at night.  We sustained some deep road rash/bruising and my husband ended up with a broken rib and sprained ankle.  I credit the leather jackets, helmets and boots we were wearing for saving our lives, but my Motorola KRZR (ancient) phone withstood my jeans pocket while rolling along the road about a hundred feet -without being in a cover.  I was able to call 911 for help and we only spent one night in the hospital.

Coincidently I am no trying to figure out how/if to order the Droid X as an upgrade (not in Verizon service area, however have a good Alltell signal) and am new to this site checking to see if this is the route to go, but had to comment on this side post.  Hope the poster and his brother-in-law get better real soon!  After 7 weeks I still have a nice scab on my knee and some very new tender skin on my right hand, but other than that, pretty much back to normal.
