All of my google contacts are there, but the ones saved to the phone are gone. I try to do an "import from SD card" and it says there is no Vcard data on the SD card. Backup assistant claims I have 0 on there. Hundreds of contacts gone. Not happy.

Hello kristianl!
I know how important my contact information is to me! I can only imagine how you are feeling.
When you saved the contacts to the phone, it doesn't appear that you saved them to the SD card which a different process altogether (please see those steps here ---->. http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=31007&sayt=import contacts to ...
Hence, the reason as to why you are getting a message telling you there is no VCard data on the SD card.
If you have logged into https://wbillpay.verizonwireless.com/vzw/nos/ba_nab/overview_def.jsp do you happen to see any of the missing contacts in the Trash? If there is nothing in the trash to recover or on the SD card, you will have to build that contact list again.
Going forward, make sure you either save the contacts to Google, Back Up Assistant, or SD card to prevent losing any important information. Matter-of-fact, you could save to all 3 if you choose to do so! (Just to be safe)

When I checked backup assistant yesterday, there was nothing in the contacts or the trash. Today, I'm happy, but frustrated to say that 173 contacts are in the trash and have been undeleted. I want to know how they got there, and what are you doing to make sure this doesn't happen again.
