Try a application called " The Missing Sync For Android", I havent used it myself but it reports that it should do what you are wanting.

Just add a "corporate synch" account. It's built right in. I got it up and running this weekend in just a few minutes. Pretty cool stuff!

Give this program a try. I just purchased it and for $15, it can't be beat. It's flexible and easy to use. It offers two way sync between Outlook and Google for calendar, contact, notes and tasks.

I believe they are wanting to sync with a desktop Outlook not a corporate sync with a push network, I am under impression that this wont work for this situation..

I had the same issue. I purchased CompainionLink for USB for my PC and DejaOffice (from the apps store) for my phone and it works, pretty much. It's not near as slick as my Blackberry/Outlook sync, but the Droid is a trendy phone, not a business phone, right? I used my blackberry for business syncing and it was great,,,but now I'm retired and tried a trendy phone and it's fun, but not near as functional. I actually am enjoying the android...but it's no blackberry (for practical functionality)

First sync Outlook to Gmail, then gmail will sync automatically OTA to your Droid X.
Here's a page from Gmail Help showing how to sync different versions of Outlook to Gmail.

Thanks never thought of doing that because my Google account has been basically just for my Google account transactions but this isn't exactly a bad ideal, i may give it a try...
