So to turn the screen on you need to press the square button at the bottom but it used to lock the screen (so you needed to push the 4 square vibration button) but instead it just goes to the home screen.
And the home key only vibrates and does nothing else.
Thanks for the help!

Forgive me but you post does not come across clear but from what I can tell you normally press the front home keyand device locked but now it goes to home page? If this is correct then ir sounds like the button is fuctioning correctly, the default setting for this button is to take you home not lock the device, there is apps on the market that can add this feature but since this isnt the default you may have to identify which app originally modify this button setting to restore this option to make locking the device the default.

I don't think an app changed it, because it happened after I bought the phone.
After clicking the black square (actual button) it goes straight to the home page but before it would require you to push the multiple square (vibration button) to confirm going to the home page to prevent accidental pushing of buttons.
Sorry, it's hard to explain.

I am having a issue understanding what black square you are speaking of... Which number indicates the button you speak up.

Truthfully, I have NO idea of what you are talking about. The "Square" button, no. 5, is the power button which turns the Droid X off and on, and wakes it up if it is sleeping. Those are its only functions. The "multiple square" button, no. 1, is the menu button. It open up the menu, and that is its only function. Button no. 2 is the home button, and brings you back to the center or home page, its only function. Have you looked through the manual? There is an electronic manual which you can download from either Verizon or from Motorola.

mortb instruction of the buttons is correct but on the same note I am still not understanding what you want to do. Are you wanting the lock screen to show when #5 is pressed? And from what it sounds like #3 is the button you are hitting that is backing up to previous action or page.... Other than this information, I am unsure what to tell you.
- The #1 button has always been defaulted to the menu button and there isnt any way to change this (As far as I know),
- The home button is always the button with the house #2, and it always minimize whatever is open and brings home page to view,
- The top button does nothing but turn screen off and on, if you want it to lock while backlight is powered off, check Settings > Location and Security >Set up screen lock.
Hope this helps because I still am unclear of what you are tring to accomplish.

It sounds like your buttons were remapped at some point. There are several remap apps so it would be hard to know how to resolve your issue without knowing which app was used.

I also have the Droid X phone and was able to do some hands on research on your behalf. I was not able to duplicate the same issue that you have described as having when your press your "home" button. Please do a soft reset of your phone by removing the battery. You can replace it after 15 seconds and then power your device back on. I believe you are experiencing a frozen system or button. If this does not resolve the problem, I am recommending that you take your phone to a Verizon Wireless store for additional trouble shooting assistance. I have provided a link below that will take you to the store locator page on our verizonwireless.com web site.
