I ordered mine at 2.30 pm eastern time with free overnight delivery and it tells me Your order is currently being processed. Please check back tomorrow.

Hope this isn't a bad sign just changed from AT&T and the Iphone to this.

@Rescue814:  Does that mean that even though I have not received my "shipping" notification yet, that it might have shipped already?  When I check the order status on the VZW website, it just says that my "order is processing" and that I should "check back tomorrow"..............

i did the same thing. i payed for the $8.99 for overnight shipping, but i called Verizon billing support and told them i found out it was free monday-friday and asked if that was still the case in my situation and they took off the charge of the shipping right away.

I'm here in Houston, Texas I ordered my phone @12:07am, I just received my tracking number from FedEx a little over an hour ago. What's funny is that I had just sent customer service an email about the matter and as soon as I sent the email my tracking number was emailed to me. Just be a little patient.

This is ridiculous...I ordered at 5:30 am. I should have gotten a shipping order already considering people who ordered this afternoon already got theres!

I ordered mine at 12:01am and I just got my shipping confirmation email.

I ordered at 7:00 am this morning. Still waiting for my confirmation. However, I spoke to csr Ishmael. very nice guy. he said that even if the confirmation email goes out tonight or tomorrow morning, I should still receive my X tomorrow.

I feel your pain.  I ordered the droid x as soon as it became available last night.  I immediately received the order confirmation email at 9:53pm PDT (12:53am EDT).  I followed up this morning to find out why I had yet to receive a tracking number... it was obvious by then from reading this thread that others who had ordered after me had already received their tracking numbers.  I finally called a second time a couple hours ago... almost immediately my order went from "currently being processed" to "has been processed and will be shipped based on inventory availability."  Hmmm.  I asked if there was a problem with my order and was told no.  Looks like I'm back-ordered, too.

I'd really like someone from Verizon to tell us why their phones aren't processed/shipped based upon the date/time they're ordered.  Seems obvious to me!  The side effect is a lot of {word filter avoidance}
customers who were wrongly placed at the end of the line.

My theory is there's a bias towards the East coast and/or credit card orders.  East coast because you'd expect those orders to be picked up by FedEx first since there's a shorter time frame to meet the following day's 3pm delivery deadline.  Credit card orders because they probably use a third party to process orders thus credit card validation needs to be done in real time, thus credit card orders clear the "currently being processed" hurdle first.  I'm on the West coast and elected to bill the phone to my account (have been on auto pay for over a year so account is in good standing).

I'm not exactly sure you're 100% right about that. Here is my story:

I stayed up last night and ordered the Droid X (adding a line to my current Family Plan) at 1:20 EDT (the current time zone on the East Coast... I'm from upstate New York). In any case, I received my order confirmation a few minutes later and assumed that was that. Seeing as though I had to work in a few hours, I didn't bother staying up for the Fed Ex shipping confirmation, I just believed it would be there in the morning/during the day.

Alas, my order went from being processed to "Your order has been processed and will be shipped based on inventory availability and shipping method. You will receive shipment notification and tracking details via email." As of right now, 8:30PM EDT (19 hours since I purchased the Droid X), I have yet to receive my shipping confirmation.

As I've been reading various forums regarding the Droid X, I noticed that shipping on my device was not Overnight like the offer implied, yet FedEx 2-Day. So, I called up the Verizon Customer Service number shortly after 4PM today and asked if I could change it to the Overnight shipping as my device had, according to the Verizon website, not shipped out yet. She said that I do not need to worry, and the device would be here tomorrow despite what the order shipping says.

So, here I wait... over 19 hours later without a confirmation tracking number, wondering what the hell is going on. I ordered my device a mere hour after it became available online, and those who ordered theirs later in the day (some as late as 3/4PM today) have already received their tracking numbers! How is it that someone who ordered first may not get their device as promised?!

As for your idea about Credit Card purchases and favoring those on the East Coast, it clearly didn't work for me.... I did not charge it to my account. I paid with a Visa card, live in New York, etc. Plus, my card is already reporting the purchase, which means they took my money without any sort of assurance as to me receiving the device when I am supposed to!

I am extremely bothered about this. Yes, it's just a phone, I understand that. But I specifically took tomorrow off so I could sign for the device. If it comes Monday or anytime next week, I will be unable to sign for it, thus waiting even longer. And, if I was backordered until next Friday, there will be hell to pay, seeing as though I was one of the earlier orders who, as it appears now, have been shunned by Verizon.

Some explanations are in order, for sure.
