Can it be true? The rumor mill is running today on Gingerbread coming to the Droid X starting this Sunday, 3/27. Can anyone from Verizon expand on this or verify? It's coming from Droid-life.com as a rumor but they are usually very reliable. There has also been some discussion from P3Droid that the release in imminent.

I just wonder if it is true, if it will come before the Fascinate owners get their FroYo.
I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

The rumor about Gingerbread coming to Droid X, is from an unknown source. But the source says the rollout will begin at midnight on Sunday (3/27) for business customers first with the rest of the Droid X owners to receive it sometime during the week.....
Another source says that the Android 2.3 build for the Droid X has already been finished, and it’s now just up to Verizon and Motorola to decide when to start rolling it out.
The third thing said is to file the above info in the "unlikely rumor" file for now. We'll just have to wait and see.....

Regardless of the fact this could only be another rumor, can anyone explain what the advantage would be to 2.3?
Why would a sane (or close to it) person with an excellently performing phone install it after the technical issues the last update created?
At this point, the only things left that this phone can't already do are things too vulgar to discuss in this forum.
Keep 2.3. I will read how it works out for the rest of you.

random reboots qualifies as an excellent running device? force closures? battery pulls? 100,000 apps to choose from but only a handful are available because they conflict with motoblur. The droid x has the potential to be an overall great phone once motorola unlocks the boot loader. Until then it`s just another android phone with manufacturer placed limitations.

I have almost a hundred apps loaded. I am at 138 hours without a reboot, battery pull, etc. I will agree that some apps are buggy, but last I read, 58% of android apps are free, compared to 28% of iphone apps. You get what you pay for.
My phone does everything I want it to and it does perform excellently.
Take your 2.3, and maybe someday you'll get your unlocked your boot loader too and whatever else you think you "need" and more power to ya, but I have zero complaints about my phone.
