Again, other sites, other problems.

I've seen people saying the hard button lights no longer work, corporate exchange calendar no longer showing up, wifi no longer working, led no longer working, etc.

Root has nothing to do with it, don't know why that was even mentioned. Even a rooted device can get the update provided none of the preinstalled software is missing, but it will remove root.

Just because someone doesn't have many posts doesn't make them a troll, it could be a simple matter of them never having a reason to post until now.

Yes, there are some issues. There also may have been changes made to the way things work that some people are perceiving as issues when they are not.

For example, the hard button lights not working. The hard button lights (at least under GB) use the light sensor near the ear speaker to determine if they should light or not. If that sensor is dirty or covered by a case the hard button lights will not light. If the DX user is in a room or area that is well lit the hard button lights will not light (by design). In a well lit room wake your DX and unlock it. Then cover the area near the ear speaker. When I do that, my hard key lights come on. When I take my hand away the lights go out.

After I updated to GB I thought the lights might have a software bug. I then came to find out how the lights work now.

Big difference between a SW bug and working as designed.

I agree that a low number of posts does not necessarily mean a poster is a troll. Hell, look at my post count.

Unfortunately, more often than not, people with a low post count who post certain content do get categorized rightly or wrongly into certain types of personalities or people (noobies, trolls, etc).

BTW, if someone wants to get rid of their DX and get another phone I say go ahead if that makes them happy.

I have a feeling that once they get that phone they may think it is crap when they cannot see flash content on a lot of internet sites.

They also may think that the email cleint on that phone is crap when it comes to what they have to do to attach a file to an email.

Beauty and functionality is in the eye of the beholder and some people see things differently. That is what makes this world so fun to live in.

I agree and I will take it one step further.  If this phone is so very horrid, kindly place the item into a box, pack it well and send it to me.  I will take this burden off their hands with no questions asked.

I couldn't disagree more....I think it's a worthwhile and productive update. I haven't had any of the issues others have (no hanging up at the Moto logo, compass issues, lagging. I didn't back my phone up or do anything, I just downloaded the update on Monday and when it was done, all of my settings were intact, my apps were where I left them, my email signatures were still attached to the right emails. No issues at all.....I like the better keyboard, I think the scrolling between home screens and in the browser is more precise. The contact list is more streamlined  and most of the duplicate information from linking contacts from different email list is, finally, corrected. I like the dark status bar at the top. I think it's a great update

I'd say it's a wash. Browser force-closes a lot now. Cursor has a mind of it's own in Swype and roams all over. Can't see how either of those are app-related, other than the apps themselves. Color scheme changes are insignificant. Never noticed the lagging homescreen movement that is supposedly improved. Contact list, homescreen profiles, UI updates are notable improvements. Cleared phone cache (thanks cody21), but to no avail. Might do a hard reset tomorrow, or this weekend.

I really haven't had any issues at all. Not used to the new cut & paste yet, but I'm sure I'll pick it up. The only weird thing that happened is after I downloaded gingerbread is that a window came up that said my cache was full, so I deleted it. Otherwise fine.
