GB update???? Where is it?

O.k...... I'm new here to these forums, have used the search and didn't find anything close to my question, but please forgive me if it's been asked and answered.....

Where is my Gingerbread update??? Seriously, no bull.... Everyone that I know that has the X has gotten an update. All 17 people that I know(with that phone:smileywink:).... but I still have nothing...

Does anyone know if it was in batches?? Should I have received it by now? Anyone else still waiting?

Just wondering what the story is........

Thanks,

BDiggz

What happens if you go to:    <Setting>    <About Phone>   <System Updates>  ?

What does your phone say/do?

It says  "Check for update was not available at this time. Try again later."

Thats all it has ever said.

initially it was by area.
i had done it the 1st and a couple of verizon cs folks, in various states, hadn't gotten it yet but i'd think all areas would be covered now.

it's funny, as there's another post where the op doesn't want gb.

Then are you sure you don't have it?

Did it possibly download it and install one night when you weren't aware of it doing so?

Just checking but was the phone ever "rooted"?

Sorry if I'm asking the obvious questions but your original post didn't specify.....

Sounds like you may be one of the users that have had issues recieving update because of a app causing the update to run...  You should try rebooting anf then check after restart, if that dont work try booting into safe mode and try running update request again by

1. Power the Droid X off.

2. Press and hold the Menu button on the lower-left side of the screen.

3. Keep holding the Menu button while the device starts until you see the Home screen load. It should say Safe Mode in the bottom-left corner of the screen.

To take the Droid X out of Safe Mode, simply power the device off, then back on.

Dirkbonn.... Nope, never rooted...

Wildman..... just tried your suggestion..... same response........

Does it make a difference that it says Check for updates not available.... sounds like its not even getting to the server.... As opposed to just no updates at this time, updates not found, etc...

Can someone try it with an updated phone and post what msg you get?

As to which version I have:

Android 2.2.1

System 2.3.340.MB810.Verizon.en.US

I just tried searching on mine with GB. I get a message that says "Your device is up to date! No update is necessary at this time." Your Android and system versions are definitely Froyo still. Have you tried looking with WiFi on, and off? Did you remove any of the pre-installed apps that came with the phone? That will also not allow you to update.

A factory reset might be the answer here, as troubling as it may be.

BDiggz,

Have you verified that you still have the old version? You can check Settings>About Phone for the version. The current version should be  4.5.596.MB810.Verizon.en.US. If you are using wifi, I would suggest turning that off, making sure 3G is showing and trying to check for updates again. If it is still showing no updates available, you would need to complete a factory reset and the update will be pushed to the phone.

Please let us know if this resolves your issue.
