Ok, so I got the message that v2.2 was ready for me to download. I selected "update later", but when i went back into my System Update it said that the software was up to date. I had no way to re-initiate the download.
Verizon tech support tried to help but didn't have a solution.
I started poking around and here is what I did to fix the problem:
Go to Settings > applications > Manage applications.
Find "System Update"
Smash the "Clear Cache" button.
Remove battery and re-boot phone.
It worked for me and i hope it works for those having the issue.
Man I had same problem as you and was sad that why my phone won't let me update!!
