the funny thing is, you can plug headphones in and then put the speaker on but as soon as you take the headphones out, the radio will go off, kinda dumb...

why does the phone require the headphones to use the FM radio app? the only possible reason i can see is that it's using the actual wire from your headphones as an antenna to receive the FM frequencies, but i think thats unlikely

That's how it is on the Omnia. The wire for the headphones is use as the antenna, so the app won't run unless the headphones are plugged in.
