Does the new 3500 mah battery require removing from the phone to charge ?
Can it be charged while remaining in the phone (Droid Charge) with the original charger ?

The 3500 mAH battery does NOT have to be removed for charging. You use the same charging cable and it charges just like your smaller 1600 mAH battery. Mine has been working fine for more than a year now.
