Entering Text from Dialer

When dialing a number that requires key touches as a response, how do you enter letters from the dialer keypad? Example: The #2 key had ABC on it. How do I enter the letter C?

Nope, touch tones don't differentiate between letters and numbers.  It recognizes all letters as the numbers that they correspond with.

What phone system are you trying to use that requires a letter?

To enter "C" you would press the 2 key once.  You press keys exactly the way you would for any other phone which has letters on the keys.

hanks for the feedback but unfortunetly I have tried that and hitting the key once from the dialer is received as a 2.  Im trying to enter C223815 and the system Im entering the information into is receiving it as 2223815.  Isnt there anyway to get to a keypad that separates letters and numbers during a connected call?  Thanks in advance for any help on this.

What you are asking for is something like T9 text input for addresses, text, etc. for the dialer.  Unfortunately the dialer is numeric only plus some controls (pause, wait, delay, etc).  Even 555-EATS gets sent as 5553287.  Has what you are asking for ever worked on any phone that you have?  What model?  I would think that what gets interpreted as an alpha is more of a function of the receiving end and not the phone.  Appears that the receiving end expects text input and unfortunately the dialer is numeric only.  Might be nice to have a toggle for the dialer that changes it back and forth between dialer and keyboard, but I don't know of one.

Was trying to fill a prescription at local pharmacy and the prescription # included a letter.  System could not recognize the number and was interpreting the letter C as a 2 and could not validate the refill.  Have always been able to do this using a Blackberry as the keyboard was obviously available during the connection.  Need to speak to the pharmacy and see if there is a work around for this.  Thanks for the support.
