Email sync no better than 15 minutes? And, picture size issues

I just upgraded to the Droid Ultra from a Blackberry Curve 9330.  (I know, I know.)

I'm having two issues that I can't seem to figure out.  First, the best option I have for email sync time is every 15 minutes.  That can't seriously be right.  Is there a work around that I'm missing?

Also, I can't find a place in the camera settings to change picture resolution.  Most pictures I'm taking are coming out at 2 MB - 4 MB, much too large to be email consistently without eating up data.

I apologize for the newb-style questions, but any help would be appreciated!
