Email accounts being deleted from Droid

I've had my Droid for 10 days and twice in the past week, I've opened my phone only to find that my corporate email account has been deleted from my phone.  I still have my contacts and corporate calendar, but the email acct (and all messages) are missing.  My corporate IT folks say they haven't done anything.  I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem, or if I have inadvertantly deleted the account (TWICE)!

I have the exact same problem except all my email accounts are deleted. I cannot figure out what action I might be taking that does this. It has happened three times. My contacts and calendars are still intact but my Exchange account and two other POP accounts disappear (settings and email). I have to reenter them as new accounts each time. It is the only annoying thing about the Droid so far and if it isn't fixable, my love affair with this device may be ending.

I do not have any POP accounts setup, but my Exchange account has worked fine since I set it up on the 6th.  I even installed another Exchange connector (Touchdown) and had both it and the native app working at the same time with no issues, other than redundant notifications.  Just a thought, but you guys may want to look into the apps you've installed that you may have in common.   It could be one app conflicting with another.  Maybe remove all of the non-OEM apps and see if the problem still exists.  If it does, then I'd say it's a hardware or firmware problem, but that's just a guess.

I'm having the same problem. This issue first happened after I installed the 'Advanced Task Killer' but I'm not sure if that's actually related.

Try excluding it from the list of processes running, all you have to do is long press said process and put "exclude". Now everytime you use the widget to instantly stop all processes running, the ones you excluded will kepp running.

Well, I had it happen again, its been about 10 days and I opened my DROID Email and its back to the setup wizard... I had zero'ed in on it possibly being one of two apps, I removed them, one was Advanced task Killer X, I had made it almost two weeks so I figured it was one of the apps, turns out, I have a totally stock phone, new hardware, factory build, no apps... ALL EMAIL ACCOUNTS gone.... just an hour prior I was sending and receiving no problem.... Verizon, This is an issue... I have had a G1 for nearly a year, never had this happen, even today, it still works.... I am happy to test any theories or ideas here.... (DROID is a test phone until i holds up...)

I had a very similar problem...

2 accounts in Droid: Corporate (Exchange 2007) and .Me (IMAP); for 2-3 weeks, they were working absolutely fine. One night after listening to Pandora for an hour or so, I went to check Mail and was presented with no accounts.

Power off/Power on again just in case and the Mail app prompted me to create accounts as if from factory reset. However, Corporate Cal/Contacts were still syncing fine and the Accounts list showed the Exchange account for syncing.

I did have a task killer (Advanced Task Manager Free), but Mail is set up as an Exclusion and it is only set to manually kill tasks; I hadn't run it recently prior to the Mail settings disappearing.

I typed in the account settings again for both the Corporate and .Me accounts and everything has been working fine since for another week or so.

While I'd obviously prefer a fix to whatever bug is causing this, I'd also like any recommendations for good settings backup/restore apps...

Thanks,

The sooner people stop being so **bleep** and allow Android to (properly) handle memory clean up and allow the apps that are supposed to run... actually run... These issues will stop coming up.

I wish ATK was removed from the Marketplace.  Not becuase there is something wrong with the app itself... it does what it says it will do, but it seems people are just a little too obsessed with having everything out of memory, they force closed processes, and that inevitably causes data failures.

Android handles memory management very well... let it do its job and you just enjoy your phone.  (You in the broad sense of course, I am not picking on any one particular person).

The setting up of Exchange on the Droid is starting to get monotonous. My settings have been wiped 3 times in the past 2 days.

I am the person that originally posted this message.  After getting some of the recommendations above, I deleted the only 3rd party app I had downloaded onto my phone (Sudoku Free from genina.com).   My email account from my exchange server remained stable for 3 weeks after that.  I had a hardware issue and got a replacement phone 2 weeks ago.  At the same time, I installed 3 apps that the verizon rep recommended: ATK, The Weather Channel, and Barcode Scanner from ZXing Team).  Phone had worked fine until last night, when my email account got deleted again.  The Barcode Scanner was not resident in memory at the time.  Earlier in the day, I had downloaded an update to the Weather Channel app.

What are we supposed to do? Not download any apps?

This is VERY frustrating
