Droid X the Conspiracy Theory.?

Hello, The reason I call this thread Conspiracy Theory due to us having a corporate account and we do own about 10 Droid X's. (out of which ALL fall into this)

The first day I got Droid X it was fast and responsive. No issues whatsoever.

Fast forward to today... phone is extremely laggy to the point where if I click dial somebody it can take up to 30 seconds before it responds, random reboots., screen becomes untouchable until phone put to sleep and brought back,  etc..

We have all kinds of users.., some don't install any apps and some that install 100s and this lagg affects all of them.

I got to the point with my phone that factory reset seems like a solve all. However it didn't fix anything., my only thoughts after that was to watch my RAM usage and remove apps that shouldn't need to be running at all. Now I am at about 70MB RAM free, but still the phone is laggy.

Rooting the phone didn't help either, but the only purpose of rooting was to remove a few useless apps forced on us by our provider.

Nothing else was modified and plenty of space left of the internal as well as external memory.

Recently my wife got a new Android phone from ATT and while it is dual-core it still feels like what Droid X felt when it was initially released. Responsive!

Right now I get asked "whats wrong with my phone?" almost daily by our users. What am I to tell them besides some of them asking me if we're being guided towards the next upgrade.

Now the new one "SD card blank or has unsupported filesystem" go figure...

Anyone else experiencing these issues?

Thanks

Not me ... Also, I know several people with the DX and none of them are having those issues.  Have you tried running in SAFE MODE for a while just to rule out a rogue APP or Widget?

How long have you had these X's? You must mean Droid X2's? But, that's nitpicking.

I have had my X since Aug '10. It has had periods of "normalcy", usually drastically halted by an update. The gingerbread update was my phone's demise.

The past 10 months, my phone has had the lag you speak of. Touching icons and waiting seconds (one mississippi, two mississippi, three mississippi, four mississippi......open).

Browser force-closing and/or freezing. The new treat the browser does is giving a popup that says "Browser Timed Out". That started after the most recent update.

Camera, camcorder and Gallery have many glitches. I've posted in previous threads and I'm done with listing them, anymore.

The SD card issue you speak of has been discussed in other threads. I get an "Insufficient Memory" message occasionally, but haven't noticed it effects anything.

There has also been many threads debating the question of whether apps cause the issues with this phone, or GB, or skins, etc.

And, threads discussing the "wonders" of resets, clearing the cache, etc.

I've bent over backwards troubleshooting this phone. It is what it is.

Many swear by it and never had many problems. Many curse it. And, many would appreciate it if those that never had many problems wouldn't belittle those of us who have and blame our woes on user error, or whatever.

But that goes along with the territory, I know.

Good luck. It's NOT a horrible phone. But, it has more than its share of issues, in my opinion.

Thanks Cody21!

I didn't even know there was such a thing.

Ran it for about 4-5 hours last night. Seems better. Going to extensively test it a bit more though.

Thanks

droidsw,

No I meant Droid X's Smiley Happy.

We had them since the release day. (Well, maybe all but 2).

You could be right on the timeframe...since I got to the point of resetting my phone last July because I couldn't normally use it at that point.

I love the phone but whatever happened to it in the last year is insane.

Thanks for letting me know that I am not crazy and other people have similar issues. lol

Ok, I am not alone.  I did an upgrade and can no longer sync my calander. Takes several tries to sync my contacts.  Can't wait to upgrade to another phone (iphone).  Will never own a droid again.
