@ArnettH_VZW   Well I had already done this right after the update because my cell phone was not operating correctly.  And I really don't want to do it again.  Is there anything else I can do?

@kewlguy97, I understand how frustrating and inconvenient it may be to have to do a hard reset on your phone, but this would be the next step in troubleshooting your phone. Please let us know if this issue continues after the hard reset we recommended.

Thanks for your patients

My X has restarted itself a few times after I put it in the car dock and once in the multimedia dock and a couple of times on it's own. Nothing radical...... I would like to know why, but it isn't doing it enough to be a bother to me. I have very few apps downloaded now and the ones that are on my phone have great reviews and feedback. I'm curious to see an update to 2.3.3 Gingerbread. When Froyo came out, it was pretty rocky at first. Verizon and Motorola issued an update within weeks and it was a very smooth running platform after that.

Actually, the FROYO expereince was very similar to this one - right or wrong.  MOTO did a SOAK test end of August or there abouts. It was then generally released in September.  Full of problems, ala GB.  It wasn't until around December 10th that the software patch update was rolled out to address most of the issues. So it was really more like initial release and then 2.5 months later a Fix update.

@ JohnB_VZW Well I did factory reset my phone and it has not rebooted since, but I am seeing different things go wrong.  For example I  was moving from one home screen to another and the bottom half of the screen quit working.  Also the performance of the phone is worse since the factory reset.  I would LOVE for you to see the picture I took of the phone when the screen quit working, it is sad that they pushed out and update that clearly had not been worked through enough. P.S. I was in no way putting down Verizon or any of it's employees.

my droid x has been doing this long before the gb update,it does at random,on charge off charge, normally when its sitting at idle,it gets annoying when it reboots at night and it scares the **bleep** out of you when is says DROID at 3am.it also keeps rebooting for about 2 mins when i connect it to my laptop then it stops.i have nothing on my phone and on my laptop but it still does this. after the reboot its ok for about 2 weeks then starts up again,i called verizon but all they are telling me is its somthing im doing  or an app, so i rebooted to factory settings again and did not install any apps for 2 weeks and still the same problems:

-checks emails fine then stops

-reboots on its own randomly

-will not auto call numbers from text

-will not send emails, they will stay in the outbox until u power cycle the phone

-if i am in the middle of a call and i get  another call but do not  answer and they leave me a voice message, the voice message notification beep some how mutes my voice and i have to hang up and recall that person(does not happen all the time)

all this started when they sent me this refurb phone but they  are giving me hell on replacing it,evan the tech on the phone told me that some phones sneaks pass inspection and gets sent back out by misstake but they also tell me to go to a store for futher diasnostics and the store blams everything on apps, the last time i took it to them i had no apps installed and they still will not replace the phone and its starting to get really bad after this gb update.they will not like me 2morow when i show up at the store.i deal with devices all the time and i know it takes time to get all the bugs out but enough is enough, they should not send out refurb phones anymore

You guys must be doing something wrong. GB was an excellent update and most people have had very few issues with this phone.

Pardon the sarcasm.

Do a complete wipe, including formatting the SD card and a reset without restoring any previous data.

If that doesn't help, go to a Verizon Store and insist on a replacement that works better, at least until an update for this GB update is released, you are eligible for an upgrade (different phone), or your contract is up.

(And, don't accept the condescending comments insinuating that your issues are somehow your fault. That is a common attitude of some people when they can't explain, or resolve, your issue).

I'm sorry to say that I have done nothing wrong all I did was hit the update button.

I agree. After deleting a bunch of apps, I was still having issues, so Verizon sent a replacement. It was OK for a couple of days, then when I would wake the phone up, instead of the lock screen coming up, a direct sign in to Google + was asking which email I wanted to sign in with.....this happened 4-5 times a day. Also sometimes when I would wake the phone the weather screen greeted me.....I always hit my power button when the phone is on the main home screen......I went through my apps one by one and found 2 out of 10 downloaded that may have GB issues and deleted them, did a hard reset and the same stuff was happening. I'm getting a DX2 with 2.2 until they figure the update out.

The bottom line is, when I had 2.2 on my DX I wasn't having any of these issues with about 26 apps installed. After GB I had all kinds of issues. I deleted most of my apps, than read through each app description, one by one to make sure what was left was not interfering with the OS and STILL had problems. I hope a patch is issued. I'm clearly the only one that's not having issues. I agree with the above poster, I merely downloaded a new OS offered by Verizon and Motorola.
