Droid X constantly rebooting

Received my droid x last Thursday. Phone rebooted twice while attempting to activate the phone I just passed it off as it possibly not being activated yet. Since then it has constantly rebooted when the screen times out. If I leave the screen on I use a full battery in 4-6 hours. I have no apps on the phone and have done a factory reset 4 times. It has rebooted and I counted 37 times since 8 am today. Any ideas on how to fix this problem are more than welcome though I have accepted the fact I will most likely need a replacement.

I had the exact same problem when I first got the Droid X.   When I took it back to the store, it rebooted while sitting on the counter.  The staff person there watched it in disbelief, then immediately offered me a replacement.  No major problems with rebooting since then.  Since it's been about a week since you got the phone, take it back within the next few days (you have 14 days from the date of purchase), and request a replacement.  Please don't let this deter you from the Droid X.  I've grown to really like this phone!

Yeah. You need a replacement. A phone that new and doing that needs to be replaced.

I think im having the same problem as you. My droid x will be running fine and all of a sudden reboot or just shutoff totally. This is the second phone from verizon that i have received in the last week, and both units have the exact same problem. My prior phone's problem was the speaker and 3.5mm headphone jack were crackling when a sound was trying to come from the phone. So i had to get a replacement from verizon...and that replacement phone is the phone that was having the reboot/turn off problem. So i got another one and the same problem is happening again right out of the box. I have heard people say its the apps, but how can it be the apps when the phone is right out of the box with no apps installed? I have also heard people say do a factory data reset, and i have done that and it didnt work either. My only thought is ether verizon keeps sending my defective phones, or the battery is bad. They send you a new phone, but not a new battery, and since this is the battery from my very first phone, i assume the issue might be that. Im going to call verizon and see what they say anyways, and maybe try a new battery...I will post again when i got more info.

If the phone was purchased in the last 14 days it can be returned and exchanged for a new device. Otherwise,  we can complete troubleshooting and if necessary replace the phone with a Certified Pre-Owned Device.
