Curious if anyone else has had their Droid X randomly freeze up, then suddenly poweer off or reboot itself? It seems to happen about once a day. I can't detect any particular pattern. It happened once during a phone call. The call just went dead, the screen appeared to be frozen for about 5 seconds, then the whole thing powered off and rebooted. The other times it happened I was in the middle of texting or looking at something with the web browser, when the device froze and then suddenly rebooted? Not sure if this is unique to my Droid X or a more common problem?

Try doing a battery pull to see if this helps. I have checked to see if it was a known issue and it was not. HTH!

It SHOULD be a known issue. It's all over the forums and I've had the issue myself and I called about it. It's very frustrating to call tech support and hear "It's not a known issue". I know I'm not the only one that called.

I am having this problem with my Droid X as well. Not every day, but often. I have called VZW tech support and motorola tech support. I was told that it was not a known issue as well, and was told to take my Droid X into a store and let a rep troubleshoot it. I have done factory reset twice and the last time I did not install any apps afterwards and still had the rebooting. If you google search droid x reboot, you will see where many, many others are having this problem too.

For what it's worth, I think they need a statistically significant amount of data to make it a 'known issue'.
I do not believe bringing the issue to light on message boards, forums, or other public forums actually counts as they (Verizon) cannot mine the data and see it as a recurring issue.
Your best bet (and all of our best bets) is to call Verizon and bring it to their attention.
I was experiencing the exact same problem the day after I got the Droid X (received it day after it released). It appears as if whatever update was recently pushed has somewhat fixed the problem; I haven't seen any reboot issues since.

Happened a few times the first day I had my phone. I did a factory wipe and it hasn't happened since.

Factory reset may fix, battery pull, delete all third party apps, or try loading a cpu temp monitor widget "could be overheating". Good luck

How hot is too hot? When I had wifi tether running, it got up to 41C, but at the moment, it is only 25C.

19 pages worth of reading there. My Droid-X also has the same issue. It IS a known issue.
From one of the Motorola engineers in the thread:
"
Well, we tried. But it looks now like understanding the reasons this small number of phones experience regular reboots is going to take some time and investigation. If your rebooting problem is serious, at this time I think you should consider taking it back to your place of purchase for an exchange. It's your call -- mine rebooted the other day, and it did it a couple of times in the first week that I started using it. For me, that's not a big deal. My PC crashes sometimes too. But if you can't rely on the phone, that's different.
Again, thanks for the help and patience!
