Droid Incredible - Terrible Phone

I'm really sad to say that the Droid Incredible has turned out to be a terrible phone.  I loved it for almost 18 months, then I started having "problems".  The problems I have been having started with the Google Navigation several months ago - this was my favorite feature of the phone.  The phone shut down in the middle of navigation when I was a few turns from my destination.  From there it has gotten steadily worse.  I took it to the Verizon store a the beginning of December when it went into a reboot loop - i.e. it shut down, then rebooted to the "eye" screen, then shut down again and went on an endless loop.  The nice people at the store did a factory reset for me.  At the time I did not know this was a common problem with Droid Incredible.  Now I know and have lost count of the number of factory resets I have done on the phone since early December - probably 8-10.  I just did another one today.  My phone has been usable for about 15 of the last 24 hours, but now my texting feature doesn't work at all.  That is a new development in the failures of this phone.  I have not used navigation in about 2 months because it reliably shuts my phone down.  Yesterday the simple Google directions feature made my phone shut down, again just a few turns from my destination.  Since early December I have probably had to reboot/restart my phone 30 or so times due to reboot loop.  When this does not work, I do some kind of cache partition clearing, and when that does not work is when I have to do factory reset.  I have searched these forums and see that the only recommendations Verizon has are to buy a new phone, buy a refurbished phone or next time buy insurance.  This is the first time in about 10 years I have been truly disappointed by Verizon.  The worst is when my phone is in a loop and nothing helps, I try to go online for support, but I can't get email support for that problem, they say I must call.  I CAN NOT CALL FROM A BROKEN PHONE.  I am planning on upgrading to the iPhone, but my full upgrade is not due until late April.  I am trying to trudge through with this terrible phone until then, but it is becoming nearly impossible.  It is simply unacceptable for a device that is supposed to be a contender to the highest rated smart phones to behave this way with no support and that the device does not last even a full 2 years.  I do realize that this is mostly an HTC issue, not a Verizon issue, but that doesn't make me any less frustrated.  It is also suspcious that there are no other posts on these issues here.  I guess that would be bad for business.  I am not a complainer, very seldom do I complain, but these major problems seem like they are being ignored or swept under the rug.

I have to agree with you on some points. The phone was amazing, at first. Mines started moving between home screens on its own, won't let me turn off vibrate, won't ring sometimes when someone calls me, my battery life seems to have gotten worse. But, all in all, I can't complain too much. Your problems outweigh mines, so I guess I'm grateful mines hasn't messed up too bad. Even though I still can't update to Gingerbread, I choose not to, because my phone would probably go to crap after that. lol I just hope that you can get through it, for your upgrade. Or get another phone to hold you over until then. I am wanting a Razr Maxx or, hopefully, Verizon gets the Galaxy Note, which I would gladly upgrade to.

I agree with you100%. I got this phone from my grandmother because she recently upgraded to the bionic. when i got the phone the sd card was fine. it showed pictures well, i could unmount the card and everything was ok. well i put my sd card in, pictures came up fine. well, i had to do an update and the card wouldn't read anymore. so i called ts and they troubleshot the phone. factory reset idk how many times. they sent another one. same thing. seems like after the update it wouldn't work. i have went thru three of those phones and i have this phone. oh did i mention that the sd card that came out of the phone and the one i was using worked in any other droid, multi-media phone, computer, whatever I put it in. oh so I'm not alone?  this DROID by HTC has proved to be Incredible"ly" useless and now I am getting a new error message telling me the phone storage is is "Low on Space".  It isn't.

Calling Tech support is almost has useless has the phone itself.  It seems this is another "known" problem with the this phone and Verizon feels HTC should be the party responsible for notifiying customers about issues.  HTC feels it should be Verizon since we are their customers.

Needed to vent, this has been 18 months of resets, tech calls and debates on whether to leave Verizon for the lack of support and go to AT&T or try again with another phone.   Anyone have thoughts on the new RAZR?

Wow. So sorry you had such bad luck with your Incredible! I loved mine for the 15-18 months I had it. I had one issue with the low space. After backing everything up, resetted. It was fine. That didn't start until I updated to Gingerbread. I loved my HTC Incredible so much, I got an HTC Rezound....I wanted 4G. Love this phone as well!

I feel the same as the Above Contributor i got my Inc. Back in Sept. 2010 an had  pretty good sailing with it an the only reason i pulled it from my Line was i got a New Razr Maxx for the 4G an the simple fact of trying to get Batteries for it. It's kind of Hard an No! more Updates. Have your Tried doing a System Cache Clear or even a Factory Reset. Give one of those a try an see if that Helps. B33

Thanks all for the support!  @Lil Rudy, tried that and no go.  That's what made me disgruntled

I'll try the System Cache Clear and the FR if that fails.  Again thanks.
