Mine doesn't do that - just shows a continuous graph, but the hours work out if you subtract out the time it was shut off.  I sent you a current screenshot privately - I unplugged it yesterday morning, powered down overnight, 40% with close to 19 hours.... however it keeps track I still get 2 "days" of usage from one battery charge!!

It may be a Motorola 'thing' ... my Bionic does the same thing.

Probably is. I'm just glad my tongue-firmly-in-cheek reply translated over text, I was worried after I posted it that it'd be interpreted as argumentative >_>

Mine has the gaps, but I always felt that was showing when you were charging with the device on. I power down only when I have to due to issues

No worries Jax - I've been around these boards too long to take something like that as "argumentative" - and you actually were right to call me on it! I knew it was nearly two days going, but the time shows 19 hours... not quite one day.  So it was confusing and you gave me the chance to clarify.

And this is wandering far from the original topic - I just wanted to say that not all Droid 4's have terrible battery life.  One full day is what I expect on an overnight charge, if it lasts longer than that I consider it very good.  If it gets to the point where I have to charge during the day to get through the day, that would concern me.  but so far my battery life is totally satisfactory.

We definitely went off topic!

Idk I mostly just wish someone, ANYONE, would manufacture a quality, high-end QWERTY phone this year. The highest-end QWERTY phone I can find, international or domestic, on any provider, is the Sprint Motorla Photon Q, which is essentially a Droid 4 with a Snapdragon S4 CPU, and the Droid 4, a phone that's from late 2011, is the next-best. That's REALLY disappointing as a qwerty fan V_V

I like my keyboard too - since my LG Voyager days.  I got used to the smaller BlackBerry keyboard, and now I am enjoying the move back to a bigger keyboard with the Droid 4.  I'm awaiting the release of the BB Q10 to see what that feels like.

Back to the OP - if the main reason he/she doesn't want to move to the Droid 4 is due to reviews about poor battery life, and if a full keyboard is of primary importance, I'd move to the Droid 4, since a Droid 5 doesn't seem to be in the works.  Poor battery life reports could be due to any number of things, most likely app related, or settings related.  With all the tools available to see what is using the battery and data, there's no reason you can't adjust (tweak) your settings to get the performance and battery life you want.  There probably will be compromises, some apps are data hogs and battery hogs and there's no way around that except to NOT use them or find alternatives or use them sparingly.

I have a Droid 4 and love it.  While I would love to see a Droid 5 for somebody about to get a new phone, the 4 is a solid phone in lieu of a new model.  I am on Wi-Fi most of the day at my work and constantly have emails syncing.  I usually get home at the end of the work day with about 50% charge remaining.

Still using my old Droid2 with original battery but it is certainly showing it's age and needing new battery.  Camera quit working last year and is getting very sluggish with some of the newer apps.  Need a real keyboard and have been waiting for the elusive Droid5 which now looks like will never happen.  My first smart phone was a Palm Treo and loved it but of course they quit making that one too!  I am afraid that if I got a Droid4 that within a month or 2 sure enough the Droid5 would miraculously appear on the market.  I believe that there are enough of us out there that would buy a Droid5.  Many people can't use a touch screen, bad arthritis, decreased sensitivity in fingertips, poor coordination from nerve damage, etc., and I just wish that these manufacturers would listen to us!  The problems with buying an older model such as the Droid4 can be finding parts, batteries, phone cases, etc.  This happened with my 2 just six months after buying it and they had a newer version out and I couldn't get brand name parts, had to go with after market on the internet, some worked, some not.  Motorola/Verizon--wake up and listen to your customers!  You are NOT meeting their needs!!  Not everyone wants an i-Phone!!!!

Cop,

I am a huge fan of the original Droid series as well, and Verizon is aware that there is a desire for a QWERTY keyboard on a smart phone. Thank you for expressing your want for this as well. You are right. Not everyone wants an iPhone, and that's why we have the widest selection of phones out there. Although I do not know what the future holds, I did want to let you know that there's a great website where you can stay up to date with the latest and greatest smartphones:  http://bit.ly/nD0WuY
