Okay, here's my thoughts...
I love that there is no mention of Apple's (as well as others, Google included) ability to collect all sorts of private information about the user of an iPhone, not to mention that Apple has publicly stated that they plan to be able in the future to disable an iPhone if decide that the phone is being used in a manner that they deem improper (for now, that reason would be the use of a jail-broken phone, but that could go anywhere, right?).
And my second thought is that since you brought this issue up, you must be worried about it. So, yes, you should have gone with the iPhone.

Almost all phones (iPhone included) do this so if you're that concerned about it you should have gone with a phone that has no camera. Either that or just dont share your pictures with anyone.
