My droid 2 global HAS been reliable, let me say that much. Despite traveling to 9 countries, being dropped in bars.... all considered, it's been a nearly great 2 year run. But now, my battery appears to be suddenly dying, it couldn't hold a charge overnight after a short phonecall I made before going to bed. All morning it's been plugged in to charge, and it's still only at 40% power. The phone has been a little glitchy in the last year, though nothing too catastrophic, just annoying. I'm still a few months off before being eligible to upgrade, I believe. Does anyone out there think it's wise to replace the battery if I might soon be eligible to upgrade? is there any way to upgrade a phone just shy of the two year mark? I guess it's a little bit of a dilemma for me, because I don't want to spend excess money, but still really need my phone.

Yes, the batteries often don't last the full two years. The battery you need, BP6X, can be found on the web very cheaply, Amazon site lists it for under $4. Or you can buy it on the Verizon site for $39!
