Droid 2 One day Old and battery dead after 4 hrs

How long should the battery last?  I mostly use as a phone and txting and the battery is dead after 4hrs.  I am not very happy with that and need it to last at least one day!  I changed the Battery Management to Max and made sure WIFI is off.  Is there anything else I can do to get the battery to last ?  If not the phone will be going back to Verizon ASAP.

Battery life is user dependent, there are many things that can affect it.

Sync frequency of email, social networking, and weather updates, screen brightness, live wall papers, etc.

Also if you're in a bad reception area where your phone is getting a 1x signal, that will just crush a battery.

I dont use Socail networking, Syc email is default to 15 mins, weather I dont know how to do that yet, and Live wall paper is turned on,  My old ENV 2 went three days with out charge I just would like to get one day out of this.

I will change wall paper, and email to every hour.  Where do I check the weather settings and the brightness is auto.

Every 15 minutes for email is too much unless you can charge it more frequently throughout the day.

You should be able to change the weather frequency in the weather app.

The ENV2 isn't a smartphone for one so of course it wont discharge very fast. Dim your display, turn off live wallpaper if you have the screen on for large amounts of time, set your sync to 30 minutes at least, if you have a task killer get rid of it... You don't need one.. If you do decide to keep it have it where the auto kill is off. To further enhance battery life see what your phone is spending the most battery life on, you can do this by going to settings> battery manager>touch the battery and it will show you how much battery life has been consumed by each thing since the last time you charged yout phone..

Battery saving techniques I use

let me first say a task killer is unnecessary on a smart phone but i have one anyway because i am stubborn and i just want to be sure lol. also i keep my phone in nighttime saver mode and i erase the history so as not to clog my phone up with any needless information and memory usage. i have found a free easy to use app that achieves this end. on your phone go to market>apps>tap the search icon>type in history eraser>tap history eraser DUMAPIC (should be the second one listed)>tap install>open app>the easiest way to delete all history at once is the bomb>and depending on how much you browse the internet, call people, etc. is how often you need to delete your history. i do it about twice everyday. and i use my phone quite a bit for texting i go upwards to 1400 texts a month (at least an hour alone spent texting everyday) and play games everyday (another 1 - 2 hours a day) and listen to music everyday (2 - 4 hours a day) and my battery lasts 6-8 hours a day. im basically on my phone all the time unless im at work. i also have my yahoo and facebook and myspace and gmail synced to my phone. im hardly on my laptop anymore and i dont like to keep long term friends/family waiting.

If you use your Android device a lot you can expect 4-6hrs between charges.  This is about the norm for heavy data users, constant texters and those who live with the phone to their ear.  Fork out a few bucks for a car charger and perhaps a usb charging cable if your work involves sitting in front of a pc all day.

Remember the Android device is running a micro motherboard, processor, CDMA radio (voice, txt and data), WIFI radio, GPS radio and Bluetooth radio in addition the the video card, high resolution display and lets not forget the camera and all those fancy ring tones and alert notifications, oh yeah its also running all those apps and the Android operating system too.  Its amazing how much power that little Lithium Ion cell really has considering all the stuff it has to power.

your phone should come with a usb charger and a piece that plugs into for the wall (at least mine did) and besides the carcharger you could try carrying a few extra batteries on you (i stay on the move and a plug in isnt always available).
