Are you sure about that? That's not what this says:
(from the Engadget post)
And we got the official nod straight from Verizon: "Beginning tomorrow, Verizon Wireless will introduce a limited time promotion that offers customers the opportunity to receive double the amount of data for the same monthly fee for all Verizon Wireless 4G smartphones. For example, a customer who purchases the 2 GB plan for $30 will receive 4 GB for $30. The plans is available for new and existing customers. Existing customers need to request the change via customer service or through their My Verizon accounts --- the free portal where customers can view and pay their bill, make changes to their account and purchase new devices."

More details from the source:
Additional Details Leak For Verizon’s “Twice The Data’ Holiday Promotion
According to this:
- The double-data/same-price applies for as long as you keep the data feature.
- The doubling doesn't apply to the 2GB acquired by the Mobile Hotspot add-on.
Since I'm new to Verizon and have no grandfathered unlimited plan I'll probably take advantage of this (why not?)...even though in the past month I'm no where near my 2GB allotment.

I went ahead and did this.
"Half-price for same data" would have been a better deal...but since I don't think I'll be using less data in the future, this still has to count as worth doing for those of us without unlimited data plans.

It'd be silly not to if you're on tiered plans. I really think they should ditch the useless 300MB plan in favor of 1 or 2GB for $20 and keep the new double data ones.
