Does the HTC Incredible do the following?

Hello; I currently have a Blackberry Storm 9530, I am anticipating on getting the Incredible next Monday the 10th but I suppose that all depends on a few factors.

#1-Does the Incredible support multitasking?  One thing I like to do is read Viigo or be in the middle of browsing while sending my friend a text message, can it do that? Or does it shut down the application/window?  Can you hold down some menu key and switch between tasks and come back and have nothing altered?  Can you browse the internet and then switch to memopad to copy some info and come back to the internet?

#2-Can you customize ringtones from music off your SD card?  One thing I like about Blackberry Storm is that I can transfer songs to my cell phone and be able to customize a contact to be set up with a particular song (meaning I dont have to pay for ringtones, I can make my own LOL)

#3-Does the Incredible have a "Search" feature on the phone?  On the Blackberry we have a "Search" feature that can search by Name (person) or Text (string of word(s)) and it can search: messages, calendar, memopad, and a couple others.

#4-Built in Help Guide.  Same as above, find an icon that says help and click what you want to learn about that way I can be miles away from my home and a computer and know how to access something *on demand* lol

#5-Battery life; I've heard some people say that it drains like no other; so I'm hoping that my local verizon store has a higher quality battery; someone here recommended 1700 or 1750???

Thanks

#1 - It supports multitasking and retains the last 6 applications as you left them and you can copy/paste from each app.

#2 - Yes, for the most part - I'm not a big ring tone user

#3 - Yes, you can search your phone and/or the internet... there's an option for these details

#4 - Umm, not really - but you'll have 3G, so use #3 :smileywink:

#5 - Battery is OK for normal use, but if your a heavy user, carry a charger or an extra battery (or buy a larger one)

For the most part, I'll agree with Kenyu, but I'd add a little bit.

#3 - Yes you can search as is mentioned above, but I'm disappointed in the search functionality of the Android OS. I would have thought that, particularly being developed by the largest search provider in the history of the interwebs, the search feature would be a bit more robust. For example, all of my work contacts have our company name in the "organization" field, however when I go to the search bar and type in my organization's name, only 3 of them pop up. I have no idea how it's decided that those 3 would be the ones it will display, but it's always the same three (out of about 30). I downloaded a third party app and when I type the company name in there, it shows everything on my phone with that word in it, including all of my contacts. The native search app just seems a bit shallow.

#5 - I'd say the battery is pretty marginal. It's definitely the achilles heel of the device. I'm waiting for an extended battery to come out. I'll be in line, that's for sure. Hopefully my phone won't die before I get through the line. :smileywink:

The battery is the weak point.  There are some batteries that work.  There is a 1750Mah battery and a 3200 coming from a typical aftermarket battery manufacturer.  Also Verizon is supposed to be getting a 2750Mah battery which will be outstanding.  Not sure why they put the same battery power in this phone as the Droid but I guess it will boost accessory sales.

You need an app to make ringtones from your mp3's.  It has to be less than 30 seconds long I believe is the rule.

Also I have to agree that the built in search features are surprising considering the OS was developed by Google.  Also surprising that the Market can't handle misspellings and sometimes doesn't find things that are there and spelled right.

To trim a song into a ringtone, Go into programs, music, then list the music. Choose the song. Hit Menu, Set as ringtone.

If the song can be trimmed into a ringtone, the option will be there to do so. For some reason some of songs I have can not be trimmed.

If you mean search your contacts, try Aurora. It's my search app of choice and it'll search everything for whatever you enter. works very well.

Android's spot light ability IS multitasking! It runs up to six applications at once!

Absolutely. The best ringtone app to me would be Ringroid. (Or RingDroid, I forget it's name atm)

#3-Does the Incredible have a "Search" feature on the phone?  On the Blackberry we have a "Search" feature that can search by Name (person) or Text (string of word(s)) and it can search: messages, calendar, memopad, and a couple others.

Yup! Universal Search does exactly just that.

#4-Built in Help Guide.  Same as above, find an icon that says help and click what you want to learn about that way I can be miles away from my home and a computer and know how to access something *on demand* lol

At this very second I cannot recall, but I'm more than certain that there is one.

The battery life is definitly it's weakest point (if the term 'weak' is being used loosley here.). It's not as good as some other BB's that I've seen, but, if you're using it normally it'll last you longer than a day.

Thanks

To be clear.  Using the Incredible as I used the Droid I get 3./4 of a day.  On the DROID I got almost 2 days.  The Incredible has the same battery without all the Battery boosting updates and with a faster processor and more and bigger tech specs.  So yeah it drains the battery faster.  But there are unofficial extended batteries and official extended batteries coming.  As long as it doesn't add a bulk to one area but rather just extends the back a little I will be good with an extended battery.
