I know the X is getting old but I was hoping that it would get a final update to Ice Cream Sandwich before they stop the updates. I believe ICS will be released next week... Since the X and the X2 are similar it would be nice to get the newer OS on the phone...

The data connections loss, the activation issues, the app issue between the internal memory and SD card, the noisy headphone jack...and these are just the issues I've dealt with.
And I don't see the Moto Razr competing well against the Galaxy Nexus. Even if it's right coming out of the gate.
At least I have this new iPad to take my mind off of my Bionic troubles for a while. I will say one good thing about the Bionic...today, I bought the wifi-only version of the iPad and activated the Bionic's hotspot. And the hotspot worked perfectly all afternoon, at least when I was connected to it....

Agreed... However if Moto-Google will only support these phones for 18 - 20 months of updates and features then I will have to consider another platform. As much as I like this phone and its features Apple at least supports there phones for 2-3 generations. The iPhone 3GS can be updated to iOS 5 and it was released in 2009, granted the phone is a bit slow but...
I hope Moto-Google is listening!

2 -3 generations on apple is @ 24 months
so it sould be the same
putting ics on the droid x would be the same as putting ios5 on the 3 or 3gs

If the debacle with gingerbread on the Droid X is any indication, then I would flat out say NO it won't be coming to the Droid X. I love my Droid X, but I don't need anymore problems than what it already has and with ICS, i think those would drastically increase

I have to agree with others, I do not see ICS coming to Droid X.... Boy I wish they would come up with some better names for these OS because these names are just getting to silly.. .

they say that ice cream sandwich is suppose to be modified to transform all android devices to run on the same OS so that they can minimize all the versions out now. it will be customized to fit each device to bring up to the same OS all across the board.

I did not have major issues with my Froyo or Gingerbread updates. I had the gallery stop working in Froyo and I had the Power Off Power On by itself issue for a couple weeks and then it stopped. I just dont think ICS will rquire a dual core phone and hopefully it's min requirement would be 1GHz processor and that is all... I am gonna hang onto the Droid X for a while longer either way.
We will see whats in store next year
