I have a Droid X2, there is a small blue light that flashes occasionally that is on the left side above the screen...

Does anyone know what that light is for?

I thank you!!!

There *IS* a "proximity sensor & light" on the DX. It's what will quickly light up when you put the phone close to your face/ear for a phone call -- it results in the DIALING PAD & Screen to go Blank when you're on a call, unless you use the Speaker. You can also see it quickly flash when you power P your phone (in a dark place) ... it is very small and located juet left of the ear speaker .. it IS different in location and size to the normal LED light(s) that light up for notifications however.

That is usually a notifcation lamp, it blinks when you have a message or something on status bar that hasnt been acknowledge, try pulling your top status bar down and see if any missed notifications are listed therem if so click them and respond as need and the light should stop.

When I reset mine, a blue light was the default notification for the Handcent SMS app.

I have the same issue.

When I used my original DROID, the blue light was a Facebook notification. On the X2 when I get the blue light, I check Facebook and there is nothing. I'm at a loss as to why this light flashes. I hope someone can figure it out.

You need to check the Settings on your various Apps ... like your text app, Facebook, Twitter, Email, etc...  Many of them have a specific LED light color that you can set ... so that a specific color is associated with a specific App. e.g., on mine, I have a green light for Email and a Blue Light for text msgs.  Good luck.

That's just it... I'm not running much. I've checked texts, emails and facebook and there is nothing new. The light just goes off on its own. I'm hoping that it's not a bad phone.

So, you're saying that when the flashing blue LED light comes on, there is nothing in your STATUS bar and it just eventually goes out?  How often does it happen? If somewhat happens often enough (like every hour or so), you can run in SAFE MODE for a period of time just to rule out any rogue 3rd party apps.  just a thought.  But strange indeed.  Also, have you tried a CLEAR CACHE procedure? Fixes many ills associated with the GB update.

scottshad, never noticed it on my X until the update. I've seen it a couple if times. Once, when rebooting the phone and the other time for no apparent reason.

It was one blue flash each time. (Stopping now, before I tangent off into GB bashing).

Correct, nothing in the status bar. Email notifications and texts come up with a green light (double checked today, green). No clue what blue is. It happens like once a week.

I haven't cleared the cache but I guess i'll look into that later.

 Wiping cache partition

  • Power off
  • Power On Holding Home Key
  • When Andy with Exlamation Point Shows up Press BOTH Volume keys
  • Use Volume Keys to navigate to "wipe cache partition" and tap power button to select
  • Wait for it to finish and select reboot system
