Charge Phone Display Brightness

I posted this idea several months ago but now I have added a second battery saving feature by un-checking two items.

By the way, this works very well with Gingerbread 2.3.6 just like it did with Froyo 2.2.1.  For those of you still on Froyo 2.2.1 you can do this now because when I updated to Gingerbread 2.3.6 it was still working fine.  The update did not affect it.

You can easily and quickly increase or decrease the brightness of your Charge phone's display screen WITHOUT going into any other menus.

To do this you will first have to turn the Auto Brightness OFF by going to: Settings>Display Settings>Brightness and Un-check automatic.

While you are on this screen also go down the page to the Power Saving Mode at the bottom of the page.  There you UN-check the Power saving mode.  This turns off that eye in the upper left corner of the display screen that does its own thing to change the brightness of the display.  This further saves battery power.  Un-checking the Power Saving Mode is an option so if you like it as it is you should keep it.

Now go back to the Home display screen.  Next, TOUCH and HOLD the gold colored check mark that is at the top of the display screen to the left of the word Verizon.  Hold your finger on the bottom point of the check mark until you see the brown colored notification bar appear under your finger BUT DO NOT pull the notification bar down and DO NOT LIFT your finger off the screen.  Just slide your finger left and right.  To darken the screen (go left) or to brighten the screen (go right).

Slide your finger back and forth to see for yourself...it is so easy.  It couldn't be faster or easier to make your screen brighter when you walk outside into the sunlight or make it darker to save battery power when you' are inside with enough light to easily read the screen.

Great tip for adjusting brightness from the home screen. I adjust mine all the time and always did it from the settings menu. This will save alot of steps.

Wow, I had no idea you could do that swipe thing up top. That's great to know. Thanks for the info Jerry!! I have changed my settings and hopefully it will help on battery life.

An added feature from Samsung. Not all phones do that. My friends HTC doesn't and he wish it did. But it is a customized feature usually samsung puts in. Moto has a similiar feature but a tad different.

Awesome tip. It works for me with the power saving mode on.

There must be more goodies like this out there.

PS,  Russ, it works okay with the Power Saving Mode (PSM) on but it's just the PSM uses power to constantly monitor the light level at the EYE in the upper left corner of the display and I found that I no longer want that.
