I have a new Droid X and neither the Verizon store nor Qwest seems to be able to fix the problem of not being able to reply to or email from my hotmail account through Qwest ending in q.com. This is my main email account and I hate to change to gmail to use my phone for email. They seemed to try everything and they know there is a problem, but don't know how to fix it. Help!!!!!

I tried changing the output to 587, didn't work. Played around a little more and saw that they had provider listed as Q. I changed that to Qwest and put the output code back to 25 and tried sending again. What do you know, it worked. Now I can reply and send on the q.com mail. Thanks for all the ideas. Consider it solved.

I don't fully understand the circumstances. Are you using an email client on the phone? Or are you logged in to Qwest via a web browser? Are you using an email client on the phone for your Qwest mail account and it works for everything, but sending to and replying to Hotmail? Do you have your Hotmail forwarded to Qwest? It might help if you fully explained the situation, what you are trying to do, and the applications used.

My q.com was set up at the store when the phone was bought as my default email. They contacted qwest and used all the appropriate codes and setup information, and still not able to reply to or email from q.com account. They say they can forward it through gmail, but why can't they get it to work on q.com. I am able to send and reply on gmail. I read many of the same problems from others on the Droidsforum.net and they get the same answer, There is no solution. If both qwest and verizon know there is a problem, and qwest sells and partners with Verizon, they should find a solution.

I still don't fully understand what you are doing, but look at the settings that were setup for the Qwest outgoing SMTP server. Qwest may be blocking port 25 for any email not coming from their network. If port 25 was selected during the setup, then try another valid port. What port? I don't know, but try 587 per

If you cannot get to the outgoing SMTP port setting using the built in email app as I suspect you are, then you may have to use an alternate email app such as the excellent K9 Mail.

That's strange, I checked my list of POP/SMTP listings and have every provider, except Quest. I copied this list off of the Motorola site. You might want to check it out.

Just a suggestion here. If you have a gmail account you can login to your gmail account on a computer and have your q.com emails come to your phone via gmail in place of the email client on the phone. I had the same problem with my Inc and used this to solve. You are also able to select which account you want to send email from when you compose email in gmail app on phone.

This may sound totally weird. But I noticed the smtp switches back to smpt. I correct it again, it has been switched again next time I check it. Have done this several times. Then I thought maybe I haven't been hitting OK after correcting to save settings. Just backing out maybe? But I'm not sure. So I just corrected back to smtp again, conscientiously hit "OK" and will let you know if it sticks due to a stupid mistake now realized. Above mentioned "problem resolved" did not fix, nor did any suggestions on these forums, all of which I've tried many times. It's all trial and error with poor tech support from both Verizon & Qwest and an owners manual online which only skims the surface of this phones' operation capabilities.
