2.2 is nothing but problems....the people who tell you otherwise that they "have no problems" are probably same people who believe in Santa Clauss...there is NOTHING great about 2.2.......

I've tried everything. I've tried pulling it. Turning on wi-fi, turning off then turning on background data, i shut off my phone an pulled the battery and still i get the "unavailable" message.
I have the same issue. I called tech support and they told me the Over The Air update was being rolled out to 100,000 customers at a time but that the Manual Update block would be disabled Saturday. Obviously this was a lie since it's still in place. I too tried the battery remove trick several times with no luck.
If he was telling the truth about the OTA rollout (I have also been lied to this week by Verizon support when told I "had" to download and install the bloatware Vcast music manager to get the proper PC drivers for my Droid when it couldn't load them off the phone [by the way, loading drivers to talk to the PC that need to talk to the PC to load the drivers... seriously? You guys thought THAT was a good idea??] when all I had to do was download the drivers from the Motorola site and thus avoid the Vcast bloatware (100 megs? Really? When I already have a program to manage my music I'm happy with?)) I suppose it's possible the OTA delivery delay is because I just got my Droid last week and thus am at the end of the "queue" but even so it's been almost a WEEK.
I wish they'd just post a **bleep** link to download it from and be done with it.
BTW, please don't bother telling us the update is bad. We can read the other threads on the forums and know there may be issues with it.

This is PhilB. This is the third ID I've had to create today because of the terrible user authorization system this ridiculous board uses.
Would you believe I tried to log back in before only to be told PhilB doesn't exist or invalid? Look up and tell me that.
So when I tried to create yet another userid and it asked for my screen name, it told me PhilB was already in use!
I swear Verizon is being run by the Three Stooges!
Now that rant aside, my Droid finally told me I could download the update, so I pressed Install.
That was six hours ago.
Despite multiple attempts to power on/off the Droid, despite replacing the battery multiple times, the phone isn't downloading a darned thing.
Yet if I attempt another manual update, it tells me the download is in progress.
Seriously, Verizon. WTF?
I've been a customer since 1996. I deserve better service than this!

Rojon / PhilB,
If u haven't already tried it, u may want to try turning on the wi-fi. It definitely helped my X to get & install 2.2. Wuldn't do it before that & (95%) of the time I have (3) bars of signal here.
Also, I had same issue w/ user id & log-in. Send a PM to (moates), she's (1) of the online support reps. She was extremely helpful in getting mine straightened out.
Good Luck,

You can try to connect to an available "Wi-Fi network," select "Wi-Fi settings" and select an available Wi-Fi network or man add a Wi-Fi network that has had security settings established.

And Fondoquats, I love 2.2. I've had absolutely no problems with it. I must be one of the lucky ones because I've heard other people have had problems with it.

I don't believe in Santa Claus, and yes, I did not have a problem downloading 2.2, did not have a problem installing 2.2, and have had no problems running 2.2.
I am sorry that your having problems with 2.2, but not everyone has a problem with it.
To the original poster, I agree with the other people, try downloading it with WiFi if that is an option for you

Wifi at many hotes/public places is slower than 3G.
My phone updated to 2.2 under 3G without my knowledge.

Isn't it strange how people who want the update very badly can't get it, and people who really didn't want to risk an update (like me) got it without my knowledge?
I woke up one morning, and noticed my phone was "updated"
