I just bought the droid incredible and I am so disappointed with the battery. Any comments or suggestions?

Thanks

search around this forum. there are a TON of threads on the topic. the easiest option is to buy an extended battery. i did not because i like the slim design and don't want to bulk up the phone. but there a re many tip/tricks. i leave wifi off (unless i REALLY want/need to use it), i changed many of my update/sync options (pull email every 15 minutes, turn off sync for weather, news, stocks, facebook, etc). set screen brighness to about 30% or auto (i like it at 30% because auto messes with my eyes as it gets dimmer or brighter). there a re many more tips you can find. fyi....i get a full day (20+ hours of up time and 2.5 hours of awake time, which means i am actually using it for nearly three hours and it is on standby for the other 20 during a day) from one full charge on the stock battery. i did drain it FAST when i first got it because i was playing with it so much. if i take it off a full charge and immediately use it for a couple hours straight, then yes...i will kill it fast. you will only be able to get 2-3 hours of actual use from the stock battery, no matter what you do.

Basically the stock battery will NOT be suitable. AFAIC the stock battery is a cheap cost cutting mistake by HTC/Verizon. They should have include the 1500 out of the box. Period.

HTC makes a 1500 mAH battery that is a direct replacement for the 1300 POS that ships with the device. I purchased the 2100 mAH battery made by HTC ($48 shipped at a V store) and the battery life is tolerable meaning - I can unplug at 8 p.m. in the evening, and make it all day the next day until I return home at 6. So I can get through the next day. This is with less than 60 min of voice calls, and maybe 20 emails, 10 SMS, my work exchange email syncing ota and several widgets running like Mail, Calendar and Friendstream. Plus some light web browsing maybe 10 minutes worth a day.

The real issue for me is not so much battery life since i'm near a power source most of the day. The issue for me is how slowly the device charges the battery. My moto droid would charge significantly in an hour. The Inc takes HOURS to reach a full charge especially with the larger 2100 batter.

Best advice is to plugin to a power source at EVERY opportunity. Or buy the 2100 mAH battery with the larger hump on the back cover.

i'd have to disagree. mine charges in less than an hour and a half...and while the life isn't great, i'm getting 20+ hours of standby and nearly 3 hours of use (text, voice, apps/games, and more than anything...browsing.). i do belive a lot of it has to do with settings as i see many people on the forum struggling to get through the day, even with extended batteries....whereas i have no problem with the stock 1300. i do agree though, that even a 1750 fits in the device so why couldn't HTC just have put one of those in it???? a 1500 gives you about 15% more juice than the 1300 and a 1750 would've given us a third more life. it would've been nice.

Settings - > wireless -> un-toggle mobile data connection "always on" option if you're not using streaming widgets on your home screen, keep bluetooth and wi-fi turned off unless you are connecting to one, kill any GPS-using apps to prevent them from running in background when not in use, and use either auto or a low brightness setting.  That may save you an extra 2 hours or so during the day, but let's face it.....any all touch screen thin phone that is constantly pulling data like the android phones are going to be battery slayers.  You can rock a fatter extended life battery, or buy the HTC ozone battery(1750mAH), or make sure you either keep an extra usb cable/car charger with you to charge while out and about.  I've learned to charge my phone twice a day because other than the battery I think the incredible is still an awesome device....pre 2.2 update anyway.

I have found an extended battery that is the same size as the standard battery.  Here is the web page http://www.amazon.com/Seidio-Innocell-Battery-Droid-Incredible/dp/B003602HIO

I like it, it does not extend it as well as I thought it would, but again it depends on how much you use it.  Hope this helps.

One last thing which is actually a bug with the Incredible... Turn your phone off and continue to charge it. You can Google "bump charging."

You will find that the light will turn green while the phone is on, but it will go back amber when you turn it off. This method will charge it fully and give you more juice. Let it turn green while off. I play with mine tons during the day and can still last a day or more when I do this charging method. No joke.

I got the 3200 Battery from Mugen, the back door is sleek and not bulky, battery Rocks. The weight makes it feel about the same at the IPhone. Now no more battery issues. Goes for two days and bigg time use with out needing a charge. I like it a bunch.

i did a factory reset yesterday and afterwards, turned off ALL syncs/automatic syncs, did not install any 3rd party apps, cleared my calendar, did not setup any email accounts, decreased brightness to about 30% and the battery last longer than normal.

sure, limiting the phone to calls, messaging and browsing defeats the purpose of the phones capabilities ...but it was embarrassing having to charge the phone every few hours.
