Have Verizon fix it, This 2.2 update should never have come out. Too many bugs. I forced my phone back to 2.1 and will leave it as is until I 2.2 is fixed.
2.2 pros. New camera UI, New Gmail UI, New Gallery UI
2.2 cons. Slower Internet or at least streamign audio does not work. Pandora Radio sounds like crap. Slacker Radio has to pause and buffer, Last FM keeps chaning songs in the middle because the song only buffered part way through.
Hey Verizon, Google and Motorola!!!
Allow us all to go back to 2.1 and just make User Interface changes, Not rebuild the whole OS so apps dont work. hury up and release 2.3

I cannot, for the life of me, figure out why so many are stating so many problems with the 2.2 update! I downloaded mine, installed it myself, and have had absolutely NONE of these problems. My camera is fine -- I really like being able to set the exposure parameters and white balance; my Market app works fine except for the other day when market was down for a little while. And I LOVE the silent on, silent off feature -- I don't need to call attention to myself when my phone comes on; not that insecure, I guess. I don't use Facebook or the moronic Twitter, so I can't address any battery issues with those, but my battery life has been Great so far -- in fact it seems to last longer then when I got the pnone. I downloaded Flash 10.1 but haven't yet installed it but after reading some reviews I may just wait until Adobe fine tunes it for Droid.

Same here - worst problem I have is that sometimes the icons don't show for a few seconds after exiting an app.
The updated Google Voice (check the app store, 2.2 only) is Way Awesome

Its not that the there are problems with the new 2.2 its just not what some of us purchased in a Phone. I bought my Droid because of what it could do and it was good enough. But the new 2.2 took away some features which were reason I bought the phone such as the **bleep** Silent and Vibrate control by using the ringer volume control. Most of the time i keep it on Vibrate, but there are time I need to be completely off and it a Pain to switch.
For those who think we are all full of crap on this new 2.2 sucking, lets put it this way.
If you owned a Porche, lets even say its a nice new Porshe, but you own a Porche and take it in for service and they guys tell you at the shop, hey free of charge we will upgrade your car for you. They dont tell you what exactly what they will do but they tell you its better, they tell you, you will like it. So you think about it and then find out no matter what the "Upgrade" will be performed.
You leave it for service and come back it get the car.
Hope in and head home. You see a new dashboard, New Review mirror, New Seats. You go from pleather to leather. Bigger shiner wheels. All seems good until you driving home and something just doesnt seem right as you are going home. Its lost some umph. You get home pop your Hood and it has a little 4 cylinder VW motor in it. Your first reaction is What The ******** (there verizon, i censored my self).
You go back to the deal and they tell you Yeah, Thats your new upgrade, thats what it is. They wont put it back and your stuck with it. You better believe you will be **bleep** off because it not what you PAID for. Yes some people will like the new change and wont care about the lack of power with the weak engine but some people will.
All im saying is not that 2.2 sucks but it sucks for me.
All I want is an option, Those who like 2.2 and want 2.2 get 2.2 and us others that like 2.1 just give us 2.1 and we will be happy! There then would be no trash talk on each other, no trash talk on Verizon and Motorola Droid and Google.
All we need to the ability to choose what we want, the new greater OS or the one that came with our phone!

Unfortunately Verizon reserves the right to make modifications to the software and push updates and makes no guarantees that it will operate the same way whether we like it or not. The volume rocker issue was well known before the official FRG01b build as it was in all of the leaks. In the grand scheme of things, it's a relatively minor issue and one of personal preference especially when compared to some of the other "bugs". I do think Verizon should give you the option of declining the update and also document little changes that may impact the usability for the end user.
As for the car analogy, I believe it's closer to the convenience features of maybe leaving the stereo after you take the key out and until you open the door or where some power window switches allow you to briefly hold it and it will roll down all the way rather than having to hold it.

Does it give you any type of error when trying to download from the market or just show downloading and never do anything? One thing to try is to go into Settings-Applications-Manage Applications, touch the All tab, scroll down to and select Market and choose clear data. Then open the market, enter you google info and see if that does anything. Only other option is probably a factory reset.
