I am looking to buy a DROID X and just heard about the Android 2.2 platform update for it that is expected in a few weeks.
My question is can this platform be added to any DROID X phone that already exists? (meaning I can order it today and then add it on / update the 2.2 later on)
or
Do I have to wait for a whole new version of the DROID X phone to be produced to have the 2.2 added to it?
Thanks in advance.

When Froyo 2.2 is released for the Droid X, all Droid X phones will get the update, no matter when it was produced or purchased.

Yes you get a over-the-air update to your current Droid-X. The speed is already amazing but with the update it will better utilize the 1 Ghz processor making it even quicker. I think playing on it beforehand will help me appreciate the update.
