Do *not* put the "leaked" 2.1 on your Eris.

If you want to void your warranty (I'm not saying *not* to do *that*) you certainly do not want to put the "leaked" 2.1 on your Eris.  Devs have not found a way to return your phone back to stock, nor does anyone know if the leaked version can be upgraded to the "real" 2.1 version when it comes out, in addition, the 2.1 leak can not (yet) be rooted like the 1.5 factory ROM can.

There are *much* safer and long-term savvy ways of getting 2.1 on your eris, should you really want to do so, but *not* by applying the leaked 2.1 ROM.

You have the same story as me, EXACTLY....i need the turn by turn for when i travel, but preferred a slimline phone, didn't like the flat keyboard on the moto droid so ended up with the ERIS and the promise of an upgrade by the end of Jan. well like it has been said time and time again...look at this last week of march and no upgrade yet, so it looks like the Q1 promise is also going to fall short.

im with you, like the coverage, the phone is ok, but it is the deceptive practices of the stores that is really bothersome.

What are the "much safer ways" of putting Droid 2.1 on the Eris?
