It’s August and that means its National Peach Month!

In 1982 Ronald Reagan declared August as National Peach Month with activities and events promoting people to ‘reach for a peach’. This nutritional fruit is chock full of vitamins A, B, and C with only about 37 calories. Originating from China, it made its way to Italy, and eventually to the United States all of which are the world’s top producers of the fruit. Within the US peaches are grown in California, South Carolina, and Georgia, making it one of the top ten popular fruits. Did you know that there were over 700 varieties of this fruit globally? Which are separated into categories based on the pit.

 

 

 

Here are two ways: Chicken with Peach-Cucumber Salsa and Peach Blueberry Pie.

 

The ingredients listed serves four and it only takes about 25 minutes to make.
