mifi does not give internet access in wifi mode

I have a curious problem with my mifi2200.  On 2 of my pc's both running win7 I have no real problems other than the occasional dropout.  On my daughters pc I just cannot get it to give me internet access in wifi mode.  This machine has a fresh install of win7 with all security features turned off and I am using a usb wifi adapter which is the same model as my other pc's.  If I plug the mifi in via the usb and use the VZ software I can connect and have internet access.  The problem is when I go to wifi mode the adapter sees the mifi and connects, gives my 5 bars, but the connection does not allow me internet access.  If I access the mifi bios I can even see this pc is connected.

Very frustrating.  Verizon tech support has been of zero help so any ideas of why I can connect but not get out to the web?  Once again fresh win7 install with no firewall or security software.
