I want an answer NOW!

I want an answer as to how to avoid overage. We NEVER do any gaming...NEVER stream any audio or video files....VERY RARELY watch a short YouTube video...OCCASIONALLY download music files from iTunes(maybe 3-6/month). 100% of our internet usage(which amounts to a couple hours a day maximum) is facebook and news articles. Our Mifi is turned off every night between 10pm and 8am. Yet, we used over 20GB last month. And, this month, 12 days into the cycle, we've used 9.45GB. This morning between 7:30 and 11:30, with only facebook for about 60 minutes of that time, we used 530MB. One morning, I turned on the Mifi and within minutes used about 400MB. Someone explain this. No, there is no one accessing our network. We live in the country and it has a 14-digit passcode. I firmly believe we are being screwed. And, if this doesn't get resolved this week, I am leaving Verizon. And, I will file a complaint with the BBB.

Another frustrating aspect of Verizon is the lousy customer service. There is no option for help in this area. It is not a mobile cell problem. Nor is it FIOS...or landline. I choose the best options and finally am connected with someone...only to find out it's not their department and they connect me to the right department which is basically, I start over again with the main menu. The ONLY WAY I ever get the slightest help is if I contact sales. At least that department has a live person. Customer services for MIFI devices is non-existent.

Sincerely,

TammiK

No one can answer a usage question for you.  Everyone's usage, devices and habits are different.  No one can see your data except for you and Verizon, and we all know Verizon is not going to disclose their information.  You must conduct your own investigation and determine the usage for yourself.

There are various tips and tricks to monitoring usage if you determine you want to go down that path.  If you are interested then let me know and I can post some additional information.

Do what you believe is best.  If the MiFi provides you with enough value then spend the time to investigate and troubleshoot.  If not then pay your ETF and leave for another provider.  Chances are very good that unless you conduct troubleshooting with VZW that you will not have any fees waived on your termination.  Chances are also good that unless you figure out your usage problem you will have the same problem on another carrier on a capped data plan.

Other than that contradiction... honestly 99% of the time I deal with situations like this, the problem is on the consumer's end. Viruses, spyware, kids doing things behind parents' backs, spouses getting online at weird hours, and just a gross misunderstanding of what uses how much data are but a few of the potential causes.

If you live in the boonies, your only options are cellular and satellite in most cases. Satellite generally has far worse connections and the same arbitrary bandwidth limits.

Check and make sure any auto backups are set to ONLY use wifi

Recent 4.3 update on my Galaxy S4 re-installed & updated Google+ my fault for clicking through without

reading but google+ does a full backup of all your photos, videos ect to your google account it defaults to wifi/4g LTE. You have to manually check "wifi only"...

Soooo when you have 15GB of pictures and video on your phone you'll get quite a surprising text message from

verizon saying that you've gone over your monthly allowed data. itunes with their cloud have something similar make sure

it's only performing backups over wifi should be a option under settings.
