Does network extender assign dynamic IP addresses?

Hi, I'm using the network extender in my office at work and the IT Dept says the extender is subnetting the network (functioning as a router, I assume) and utilizing DHCP to assign IP addresses which is confusing our VoIP telephone system (which also uses DHCP to route calls). That is, VoIP calls get routed to the wrong phones or get dropped because of this. Is there a way to turn off DHCP in the network extender? Would connecting the network extender to our network through a layer2 switch prevent or just complicate this?  Thanks any info.

The Network Extender has a DHCP Client and like most DHCP Clients it has no prevision to assign IP addresses to other network devices. If you’re not using DHCP and manually assign IP addresses you’ll have to call Customer Service (800) 922-0204 and ask them how to assign the Network Extender a static IP address (which will disable the DHCP Client) because it is not covered in the manual.
