Cradlepoint MBR1200 with Verizon Pantech UML295 Carrier Reject

I have a Cradlepoint MBR1200 Router that I tried to setup with a Verizon Pantech UML295 usb modem.  The router will work great the first time the USB modem is plugged in.  After being reset or powered down the USB Modem cannot connect to the Verizon network and lists "Carrier Reject" as the reason.  If I switch modems or get a sim cards the modem will connect the first time (the sim or modem is used) then get rejected again.  So once used and power cycled it won't connect again.  I'm assuming the router is getting banned from the network as Verizon doesn't want the WWAN shared across devices.  I can plug the UML295 modem into any PC and it works great.  I'd use a hotspot but need more functionality from my router and a permanent local network in place.  Before ordering the USB modem I was using my iPhone as a hotspot (which got extremely hot and had limited range) and it worked great.  I've contacted Verizon and they were not helpful whatsoever.  I live in the country and Verizon WWAN gets about 45Mbps vs 6Mbps offered by DSL.  I have 2 DSL lines load balanced but would like to use the Verizon WWAN as primary.  Since I live so far out in the country I have never been throttled on any of my devices since they started offering unlimited plans again.  Any suggestions?  Does anyone have any experience with Cradlepoint and Verizon?  We've deployed a bunch of these Cradlepoint routers on the AT&T network without any issues.

ICS through a PC would be a pain in the butt and require a PC to be constantly running.

And the UML295 is fully compatible with the MBR1200.  The MBR1200 has the latest firmware update.  I've tried 3 sim cards, 3 modems and 2 different Cradlepoint Routers to rule out a hardware issue.  Same result, works the first time and only the first time when connected to the MBR1200.  Works every time when connected to a PC.

How often are you resetting or powering down the router?

Which cellular plan do you have associated with the USB modem?

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Why would they be helpful?

Not according to the compatibility list: the 1200 isn't listed… the 1200B is listed.

Did you try this:

I don't power down the router unless necessary.  It's not like it's being power cycled all the time but it took me the first couple modems and sim cards to establish the pattern.  Usually I load equipment when plugged in on a desk or counter, test it then mount/install it.  So everytime I went to install it the modem would not connect.

It's a personal account on an unlimited data plan.   Business support tried to tell me I needed a business plan for compatibility with a Cradlepoint but they were misinformed.  Tech support told me it shouldn't matter.  Spent a few hours with tech support yesterday and if we modified the APN it will connect once.  Then the APN has to be modified again.  Still working on this.

They were decently helpful yesterday and got it to function if the APN is modified everytime I need to reconnect.

The model is a MBR1200B so sorry for omitting the full model number.

I'll try the link you suggested and let everyone know the outcome.

I use the Pantech UML295 with the Cradlepoint MBR1200B firmware 5 and it worked just fine. Cradlepoint seemed to have stopped commenting on the firmware version 5 channel and so I upgraded the Cradlepoint firmware to version 6. At this point the UML295 no longer connected and showed the 'Carrier Reject'. Lots of digging for the firmware 6 release notes on Cradlepoint's site and I found that only the 2 most current firmware for the UML295 will work with Cradlepoint firmware version 6. I had the third so now I need to work with Verizon as the firmware update page on the UML295 does not find the new firmware on Verizon's site. Hopes this helps others out there in a similar situations.
