Can't update datacard

I purchased a UM 175 datacard and Alltel plan in July 09. About two weeks after that VZ took over the account.


The card was initially activated with the Alltel software. Since then I have installed and use VZAM software which connects with no problem.


However, I have never been able to update the card since that initial activation. Since I travel a good bit the impact I have had is that frequently associates who have a VZ card connect with a strong broadband signal and I don't.


I have called VZ customer support more than once. I get different explanations but no solution.


Anyone have any ideas?
