Do the Verizon wireless mobile hotspot devices need to be updated?
Updating to the latest firmware version is a best practice unless there is a known issue with the latest release.
If you are not on the latest version then check out the patch notes for your device. Then cross reference the Verizon community forums for any notes on that firmware version to see if there are problems. If nothing mentioned or the problems mentioned are not of concern then proceed to update.
