4510L worthless for road warriors

I really wanted LTE to work, I was excited when I saw the samsung and the novatel at CES. I bought the Samsung day one and it could not get it to work for more then 2-3 minutes at a time in the Las Vegas convention center. My old 2200 worked great under these circumstances. Swapped the Samsung for the 4510L and had the EXACT same experience. In Chicago, Philly or Vegas at a trade show it was worthless. If I pulled the battery I could get another 2-3 minutes before it locked up. Seemed ok in Hotel rooms so if you are walking around or if there are lots of wifi signals around it simply does not work. I just transferred service back to my mifi2200 as I NEED internet access when attending trade shows. I kept the 4510L. I am hoping it is a firmware issue or Verizon will eventually unscrew the LTE network.

I tried setting to 3G only as well as changing channels. Nothing helped. Sometimes I am reminded that there is pain with being an early adopter

I figure I will check in every three months and see if anyones experience has improved.

Sorry you're having troubles. We recommend trying a different channel areas of multiple WiFi signals. This is done under the Wi-Fi Profiles section.

Hope this helps. Thanks for your post.

I too experience the lock up after brief usage (2-3) min.

The activity light goes from a very bright green to a dull green and the device is frozen (power button does nothing).

I did find a "solution" to the lock up.

It seems that lockup does not occur when the device is charging.

I have an external battery that charges the device.

Since using this method, I have been getting reliable connections with the device.

The device locks up shortly after the external battery is drained.

The main problem with this "solution" is that it requires an additonal device which makes the entire setup less portable.

I carry this device and the battery in a cargo pocket.

I would not consider carrying this setup in "traditional" hand pockets as this setup is rather bulky and I personally don't want such a device that close to my body.

I tried changing the Wifi channel. I tried excluding 4G, and also making it 4G only. If it was a crowded area or I was mobile it constantly failed. I went back to the 2200 for now. Hopefully when you guys unscrew the 4g network or have a firmware update for the 4510 I may try it again. I did keep it, so I am hopeful it will someday not suck

Interesting observation. I had actually bought a 2nd battery for it since I needed to go a full day. I have external chargers that I carry in my bag but I do not consider this enough of a solution to turn it back on. Looks like I am still on the 2200 for the time being

Has any body else confirmed this work around?

I'm having the same issue...

If I plug it into the wall or keep it powered some how, it will work fine. Once I go on battery power, the device locks up. The network LED becomes dimly lit and it no longer responds to the power button.

I was thinking maybe my device is defective and I should get it swapped, but if everyone is having the same issue maybe it's not just my device.
